The QC Mechanical will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical works — particularly welding and fabrication for storage tank construction — comply with project specifications, codes, standards, and client requirements. This role involves monitoring field execution, conducting inspections, interpreting NDT results, and coordinating with construction teams to ensure mechanical completion is achieved safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspection and supervision of mechanical works, welding, and fabrication activities for storage tank construction.
- Review and verify WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications prior to fabrication execution.
- Perform visual welding inspections, dimensional checks, and traceability control for materials and consumables.
- Interpret Radiographic Testing (RT/RI Level II) results and identify defects in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinate and witness NDT activities (RT, MT, PT, UT) and ensure inspection results meet acceptance criteria.
- Monitor quality control documentation, including ITP, checklists, punch lists, welding maps, and inspection reports.
- Issue and follow up on NCR, CAR, and corrective actions until closure.
- Ensure mechanical activities comply with API, ASME, ISO, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with site construction, HSE, QA/QC, and third-party inspectors to maintain project quality and safety standards.
- Provide daily and weekly reports on inspection progress, quality findings, and risk mitigation to the QC Lead/Project Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of QC Mechanical experience in EPC projects, with mandatory experience in Storage Tank construction.
- Active BNSP Welding Inspector Certification (required).
- Radiographic Interpretation (RI Level II) certification (required).
- Tank Inspector certification is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of API 650/620, ASME, AWS D1.1, and other related mechanical standards.
- Proven experience in NDT witnessing and interpretation (RT/RI mandatory; MT/PT/UT optional but beneficial).
- Hands‑on field experience in tank fabrication, welding, and erection.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with contractors, third‑party inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Willing to work full‑time on‑site in South Kalimantan (project environment).
