Indonesia has established the necessary regulatory framework for fortified rice, including national standards for Fortified Rice Kernels (FRK) and Fortified Rice (FR). However, translating these standards into large-scale implementation requires sustained technical coordination, cross-ministerial alignment, and day-to-day engagement with key government stakeholders.
To support this process, WFP seeks to engage a Programme Policy Officer to be seconded to the Coordinating Ministry of Food to provide embedded technical expertise on rice fortification, food safety and nutrition. The incumbent will play a critical role in facilitating coordination across ministries, advancing pilot implementation, and supporting evidence-based planning for scale‑up.
The Government of Indonesia is advancing the integration of nutrition-sensitive approaches within national social protection and food systems programmes, including the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) programme. Given the centrality of rice in national diets and public food programmes, rice fortification presents a high‑impact opportunity to address micronutrient deficiencies at scale.
