As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and conducting risk assessments, safety studies, and process safety management (PSM) audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. You will collaborate with clients to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks in industrial operations, contributing to a safer and more sustainable working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA).
- Evaluate the adequacy of process safety systems, including relief systems, instrumentation, and emergency procedures.
- Support implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) frameworks in line with OSHA 1910.119 or equivalent standards.
- Identify potential hazards in chemical processes and recommend technical and procedural safeguards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and safety documentation, including risk assessment summaries and recommendations.
- Support clients in developing and improving Safety Integrity Level (SIL) and Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Deliver process safety training and awareness sessions to client teams and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local and international process safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate across departments to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and risk management practices.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and health & safety in all work activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in process safety, risk management, or chemical operations.
- Solid understanding of HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, and PSM methodologies.
- Knowledge of international process safety standards (e.g., CCPS, IEC 61511, API, OSHA PSM).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in safety and risk analysis tools/software (e.g., PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTie XP) is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites or project locations.
Preferred
- Certification or formal training in Process Safety Management, HAZOP leadership, or Functional Safety.
- Experience in high-risk industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy.
