This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Data System Architect, Data Engineering & Monetization in EMEA.

As a Principal Data System Architect, you will lead the design and evolution of large-scale, distributed data platforms that drive business intelligence, operational excellence, and monetization opportunities. This role provides the chance to define architectural standards, build governed data services, and enable seamless integration across SaaS and self‑managed deployments. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to embed AI‑driven patterns and modern orchestration workflows, ensuring scalable, reliable, and compliant data infrastructure. Your expertise will guide strategic decisions on cloud and on‑premises deployments, data lifecycle management, and enterprise‑grade governance. The ideal candidate thrives in complex, regulated domains, can translate ambiguity into actionable roadmaps, and influences how data is leveraged as a strategic asset across the organization.

Accountabilities
  • Lead architectural vision for scalable, distributed data systems supporting SaaS and self‑managed deployments.
  • Define enterprise data product standards, governance frameworks, and compliance practices.
  • Design and implement monetizable data services and APIs for internal operations and external product offerings.
  • Architect event‑driven systems, cross‑stack orchestration, and metadata‑rich telemetry solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to embed AI‑driven and agentic patterns into data infrastructure.
  • Establish CI/CD best practices for reliable deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of data systems.
  • Translate complex requirements into strategic roadmaps and technical engagements that differentiate the organization.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience architecting large‑scale distributed data systems in complex or regulated domains.
  • Hands‑on expertise with modern data stack technologies, including Python, Docker, Airflow, Trino, Postgres, distributed query engines, and graph‑based metadata systems.
  • Deep understanding of cloud‑native and on‑premises deployments, with a focus on automation and developer self‑service.
  • Knowledge of data processing paradigms, schema management, logical modeling, and telemetry/metadata standards (OpenTelemetry, OpenMetadata, OpenLineage).
  • Experience with AI‑driven architectures, model orchestration, and emerging standards like MCP.
  • Strong architectural judgment for scalable, resilient, and cost‑aware data solutions.
  • Excellent collaboration, mentorship, and communication skills, with a passion for open‑source and team‑oriented culture.
Benefits
  • Flexible paid time off and remote working options.
  • Equity compensation and employee stock purchase plans.
  • Parental leave and professional development fund.
  • Home office support to ensure productivity.
  • Access to team member resource groups and inclusive company culture.
  • Opportunities to work on impactful projects that drive innovation and operational excellence.
