Job Summary

Job Summary: The Senior Cook – Pastry is responsible for assisting in the preparation, production, and presentation of high-quality pastries and desserts. This role supervises junior pastry staff and ensures consistency, cleanliness, and efficiency in the pastry section.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare doughs, cakes, breads, and various desserts following recipes and presentation standards.

  • Supervise and guide junior cooks and commis in the pastry section.

  • Maintain proper hygiene and food safety standards in all pastry preparation and storage areas.

  • Assist the Pastry Chef in developing new desserts and pastry menu items.

  • Monitor inventory usage to avoid wastage and ensure proper stock rotation.

  • Keep all pastry tools, equipment, and workstations clean and in good condition.

  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely service.

  • Follow daily production schedules and instructions from superiors.

  • Provide basic training and mentoring to new pastry team members.

Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, preferably with a culinary background in pastry.

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in pastry or bakery, preferably in a hotel, restaurant, or professional bakery.

  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert presentation.

  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining product quality and consistency.

  • Good communication and leadership skills.

  • Detail-oriented, disciplined, and passionate about pastry arts.
