Grounded in a talent‑centric mindset, Maker Lab is a marketing agency designed to build decentralised technology‑led agency teams, rooted in collaboration with clients from the ground up. Maker Lab’s cross‑functional teams of multidisciplinary specialists are embedded into client teams across digital marketing competencies — from measurement & analytics to content production.

Role Summary:

We're looking for a visionary Midweight Art Director who blends bold creativity with masterful craftsmanship to tackle real business challenges and even win some awards along the way. You’ll be the driving force behind pushing the brand forward, ensuring every idea is fresh, strategic, and impactful. With relentless optimism and a refusal to settle for "good enough," you’ll constantly raise the creative bar.

*Submit your portfolio and work examples/deck to be considered for this role!*

Role:
  • You will be responsible for setting and pushing the standards of Art Director and Graphic designers, ensuring that only the highest quality of visuals that are on brand leave the door.
  • Participate in full‑scale integrated campaigns from concept to completion. This will include creating and producing photography, illustration, animation, digital, and experiential work.
  • Hands‑on design development in collaboration with Creative Leads and creative consultants within the team.
  • You will be leading the design and development of effective communications and brand campaigns, which include digital creative work such as online display ads and in‑app comms as well as customer experience design.
  • You will provide guidance and leadership for the juniors, working with the senior creatives on the Creative team.
  • You will work and align with marketing teams to ensure that deliverables adhere to the strategic brief and the brand’s vision and intention.
  • Champion the user (both content creators and viewers/fans) in all your design rationales. Ensuring that your creative decisions are based on user behaviour and insights.
You:
  • 7-8 years of agency experience, where you have led and executed large integrated campaigns (including digital marketing).
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and a good understanding of visual design.
  • Formal design training in art or other design disciplines, plus basic copywriting knowledge.
  • The ability to explain, sell, and defend your art direction choices in an objective way.
  • Strong communication skills in managing stakeholders from all levels.
  • Some experience in managing a team of art directors and copywriters.
  • Experience in managing workflow for the development of multiple creative assets.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • (Nice to have) An interest in AI and automation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication and presentation skills to cover projects across APAC.
