Job summary

The Backend Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining secure server-side services and databases that support the company’s systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer / Developer.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and REST APIs.
• Good understanding of databases, authentication, and authorization concepts.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow established software development standards and practices.
• Previous experience in a financial services company is a strong advantage.
• Open to learning and adopting new technologies, frameworks, and development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and applications.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and/or gRPC-based services.
• Develop and maintain applications using both relational and non-relational databases.
• Translate business and technical requirements into efficient, scalable, and maintainable back-end solutions.

• Implement appropriate API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.

• Develop solutions with a strong focus on functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Conduct troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization when required.
• Support testing, UAT, deployment, and post-deployment activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, architecture, and engineering practices.

The Backend Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining application logic, server-side services, and databases that support the functionality of the company's systems.

The role is responsible for ensuring that applications and services meet the required standards for performance, security, reliability, and scalability, while effectively supporting business requirements.

Technical Skills

• Programming Languages: Java and/or Golang.
• Frameworks / Libraries: Spring Boot, including Spring Cloud Gateway, Eureka, Feign, JPA, and Config Server; Gorilla/Mux; Proto-gen-go.
• Databases: PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with Kafka, Valkey (Redis), and MinIO.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and/or gRPC.
• Good understanding of Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles.
• Experience implementing unit testing, particularly with JUnit and Mockito.
• Understanding of Authentication & Authorization, including JWT, OAuth, and HMAC.
• Proficiency with Git / version control systems.
• Basic knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container platforms is an advantage.
