Job description

The Merchandise Manager for the adidas brand is responsible for developing and executing the overall merchandising strategy to achieve sales, margin, and inventory targets. This includes building a strong OTB plan, merchandise frameworks, seasonal assortment strategies, maintaining healthy inventory levels, managing the RTV process, balancing store stock and clearance aging, and overseeing product lifecycles across all channels. The role works closely with cross‑functional teams such as Store Operations, Marketing, VM, and other related functions, as well as with the adidas principal teams, to deliver strong commercial results and an elevated consumer satisfaction and experience.

Key Responsibilities
1. Merchandise Strategy, Planning & Framework
  • Develop seasonal and annual merchandising strategies aligned with business priorities and adidas brand direction.
  • Build and implement merchandise plans and frameworks covering category roles, product architecture, assortment depth, and pricing structure.
  • Create frameworks to guide assortment development and merchandising.
2. OTB Development & Management
  • Create Financial Planning, including sales forecasting, markdown budgeting, inventory planning.
  • OTB planning.
  • Review Sales trends, stock health, and in‑season opportunities.
  • Review sell through, and inventory turns.
  • Ensure healthy inventory level.
3. Assortment & Product Management
  • Build consumer‑focused assortments based on store clusters, customer profiles, and commercial insights.
  • Define the right product mix across Footwear, Apparel, and Accessories to achieve productivity targets.
  • Manage full product lifecycles from launch to in‑season management and end‑of‑season execution.
4. Inventory, Allocation & Stock Management
  • Oversee inventory levels, replenishment strategies, and stock productivity to avoid overstock or sell‑out gaps.
  • Allocation/Replenishment process to ensure optimal product distribution.
  • RTV process, stock transfers, and consolidation activities to maintain healthy inventory.
5. Sales & Performance Analysis
  • Monitor weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales performance.
  • Provide actionable insights through category analysis, productivity reviews, and assortment recommendations.
  • Lead product performance reviews with cross‑functional teams.
6. Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Alignment
  • Partner with Retail Operations, VM, Marketing, and other teams to support seasonal and in‑season execution plans.
  • Collaborate closely with adidas principals on product availability, brand direction, and commercial strategies.
  • Support new store openings with assortment planning, buying strategy, and fixture requirements.
7. Pricing, Promotion & Markdown Strategy
  • Develop pricing structures and seasonal promotion strategies to deliver sales and margin targets.
  • Manage all markdowns and promotional executions, including major campaigns such as Black Friday and End‑of‑Season Sale.
  • Review market positioning to ensure competitive pricing across categories.
8. Reporting, Documentation & Process Management
  • Prepare OTB reports, seasonal buy decks, category reviews, and management presentations.
  • Continuously improve merchandising processes, tools, and workflows.
9. Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the merchandising team to strengthen analytical and commercial capabilities.
  • Provide clear objectives, guidance, and performance feedback.
