Job summary

Monroe Consulting Group represents a leading global data center company in Indonesia. The Mechanical Specialist will lead mechanical engineering across the data center construction lifecycle, from design review and procurement through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover, acting as SME for post-project operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, CRAH/CRAC, pumps, piping, and fire protection.
  • Proven experience in design review, construction supervision, testing & commissioning, vendor coordination, quality control, and project handover.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, TIA-942, Uptime Institute, NFPA and local codes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, CDCP are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering activities for data center construction and expansion projects, including HVAC, chilled water, piping, fire protection.
  • Review mechanical designs, shop drawings, specifications, BoQs, and method statements for compliance.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, procurement, and internal stakeholders across design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Monitor construction quality and provide technical guidance to resolve issues.
  • Ensure works meet schedule, quality, safety, and engineering requirements.
  • Witness and validate testing and commissioning activities prior to handover.
  • Act as SME after project completion to support Facility Operations.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and lifecycle costs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and long-term engineering strategies.

Job description

Monroe Consulting Group is representing a client in leading global data center company providing mission-critical infrastructure and high-performance data center solutions. As part of its continued expansion in Indonesia, the company is looking for a Mechanical Specialist (Construction Engineering) to support the delivery and expansion of its data center facilities.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Specialist, you will be responsible for leading mechanical engineering activities throughout the data center construction lifecycle, from design review and procurement through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover. You will also serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for mechanical systems after project completion, supporting long-term facility reliability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering activities for data center construction and expansion projects, covering HVAC, chilled water, piping, fire protection, and other mechanical infrastructure.
  • Review mechanical designs, shop drawings, technical submittals, specifications, BoQs, and method statements to ensure compliance with project requirements and engineering standards.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders throughout design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Monitor construction quality and provide technical guidance to resolve mechanical engineering issues encountered during project execution.
  • Ensure mechanical works are delivered in accordance with project schedule, quality, safety, and engineering requirements.
  • Witness, review, and validate testing and commissioning activities, ensuring mechanical systems perform as designed prior to project handover.
  • Act as the mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) following project completion, providing technical guidance and support to Facility Operations teams.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, technical documentation, SOPs, and mechanical best practices to improve system reliability and maintainability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy efficiency, operational resilience, and lifecycle costs of mechanical infrastructure.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across mechanical systems and contribute to the development of long-term engineering strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within data centers, mission-critical facilities, MEP consulting, or construction projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC, pumps, piping, fire protection, and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in design review, construction supervision, testing & commissioning, vendor coordination, quality control, and project handover.
  • Familiarity with relevant international standards such as ASHRAE, TIA-942, Uptime Institute, NFPA, and applicable local regulations/codes.
  • Proficient in reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, BoQs, method statements, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with consultants, contractors, vendors, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Experience working in mission-critical or highly regulated environments will be an advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, ATD, CDCP, or equivalent are highly advantageous.
