Job summary

Jakarta Intercultural School is seeking a qualified Middle School Civics and Indonesian Studies teacher to plan and deliver Civics per JIS and Indonesian requirements. You will develop engaging lessons, assess learners, and provide timely feedback.

Also responsible for Indonesian Studies instruction, adapting content for diverse learning needs and ILPs, and collaborating with support teams and leaders to align curricula.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching credential.
• Minimum five years of teaching experience, including Civics at the secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of the Indonesian Civics curriculum and national requirements.
• Experience with Indonesian language development.
• Knowledge of Indonesian culture, history and civic values.
• Ability to adapt curriculum for diverse learners.
• Experience with neurodiverse students preferred.
• Experience collaborating with support teachers preferred.
• Familiarity with the Indonesian national curriculum and Kurikulum Merdeka.
• Experience in PLCs and curriculum design with leaders.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across teams.
• Prior international or SPK school experience preferred.
• Openness to new ideas and professional growth.
• Commitment to child safeguarding, service learning and environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver the Middle School Civics curriculum per JIS and Indonesian rules.
• Create engaging, developmentally appropriate Civics lessons.
• Assess student learning with formative and summative methods.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
• Contribute to Civics curriculum development with colleagues.
• Collaborate with Indonesian Educational Program Manager on planning.
• Develop understanding of Pancasila, citizenship and civic life.
• Develop Learning Dispositions through teaching methods.
• Plan Indonesian Studies to combine Civics, Bahasa Indonesia and culture.
• Differentiate curriculum and align with ILPs.
• Teach Bahasa Indonesia suited to student needs.
• Use visuals, real-life contexts, hands-on activities.
• Document student progress with appropriate methods.
• Participate in PLCs and cross-team collaboration.
• Work with JLC teachers to adapt learning for individuals.
• Coordinate with Student Support Team as needed.
• Collaborate with the Indonesian Educational Program Manager.
• Plan with Homeroom Teachers for Indonesian Studies.
• Collaborate with Student Support and other specialists.
