Job description

Prepares surfaces by shot blasting or sandblasting to remove rust, scale, and old coatings, then applies industrial-grade paints, epoxies, or protective coatings to metal structures, machinery, or equipment in industrial settings (e.g., factories, shipyards, construction sites)

Key Duties:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by shot blasting, sandblasting, or other abrasive methods to remove rust and old coatings.
  • Apply industrial-grade paints, epoxies, and protective coatings to metal structures, pipes, and equipment.
  • Operate blasting and spray painting equipment safely and effectively.
  • Mix paints and coatings to correct specifications.
  • Inspect finished surfaces for quality, thickness, and adherence to specifications.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols, including wearing full PPE and managing hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial painting and/or shot blasting.
  • Proficiency with blasting equipment, spray guns, and other painting tools.
  • Knowledge of various industrial coatings, their application methods, and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Understanding of surface preparation standards (e.g., SSPC, NACE).
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols, including wearing PPE.
  • Physical strength and stamina for demanding work.
