Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Indonesian STEM Expert (PhD) to develop expert-level prompts in Indonesian for AI safety and to evaluate model outputs for scientific accuracy and safety.

The role is remote and offers a contract arrangement with an hourly compensation of $19–$23. Candidates should be fluent in Indonesian and English and hold a PhD in chemistry, biology, or a related field.

Qualifications

Position: Bilingual Indonesian STEM Expert (PhD) — AI Safety

Type: Contract

Compensation: $19–$23/hour

Location: Remote

• Write expert-level prompts in Indonesian across specialized scientific topics.
• Evaluate and annotate model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate handling of sensitive content.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• PhD in chemistry, biology, or a related field — ongoing or completed.
• Native or near-native fluency in Indonesian and business-level written English.
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniques in your subfield.
• Sound judgment around scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use information.

Preferred

• Based in Indonesia or the wider Southeast Asia region.
• Expertise in radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, or radiation physics.
• Depth in a specific subfield such as organic synthesis, molecular biology, or virology.
• Research or coursework on chemical safety and security.
• Experience reviewing or grading technical content.
