About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality) Superintendent to join our team at SOECHI GROUP’ in Jakarta. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, security, environment and quality practices across our maritime transport services. This is a full-time position based in our Jakarta office.

What you'll be doing
HSSEQ Management & Compliance
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSSEQ policies, procedures, and management systems to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001), and ISM Code requirements.
  • Maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) and Occurrence Management Systems, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure internal and external audits are carried out at prescribed intervals and that observations and non-conformities are closed out effectively.
  • Act as the Management Representative for HSSEQ-related matters.
Audits, Inspections & Risk Management
  • Carry out audits, safety inspections, and navigational audits onboard vessels.
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and HSSEQ audits to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor HSSEQ performance and report findings during Quarterly Management Review meetings.
  • Assist in the evaluation and continuous improvement of the Company’s TMSA compliance.
  • Review safety returns, including accident and near-miss reports, ensuring all occurrences are addressed promptly.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents as directed by the HSEQ Manager, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Maintain Emergency Response Room (ERR) facilities and coordinate emergency response drills.
  • Arrange random drug and alcohol tests and ensure compliance with the Company’s D&A Policy.
Training, Communication & Support
  • Provide guidance and support to both shore and sea staff on HSSEQ-related matters.
  • Deliver training and coaching to ensure employees understand and follow HSSEQ protocols and best practices.
  • Monitor and respond to communications received by the HSEQ team in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HSSEQ initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Reporting & Regulatory Updates
  • Prepare comprehensive HSSEQ reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and trends related to HSSEQ to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.
What we're looking for
  • Certificate of Competency COC Class 1 or 2 ( Deck or Engine)
  • Sailed on Tanker as Master/ Chief officer/Chief Engineer
  • Have had experience conducting internal Audits previously.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements.
