Job summary

Digital Edge Data Center is seeking a Health & Safety Assurance Specialist - Electrical to oversee electrical and commissioning safety across the Cikarang campuses. This on-site role in Indonesia will verify safety controls and coordinate with Construction, Project Management, General Contractors, and Commissioning teams to ensure safe execution of high‑risk activities.

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field with recognized safety qualifications.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, safety, commissioning, or health and safety assurance.
• Experience in data centers or large-scale, high-risk environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety, energization, LOTO, and testing.
• Understanding of arc flash risk and safety studies.
• Ability to provide independent safety assurance to multiple stakeholders.
• Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist health and safety oversight for electrical and commissioning activities across Digital Edge’s Cikarang campuses.
• Review electrical/commissioning plans, risk assessments, permits and controls with three-week look-ahead.
• Provide technical assurance for energization and re-energization activities (readiness, switching, system integrity, protection).
• Verify energy isolation and Lockout/Tagout arrangements (isolation, testing, verification).
• Provide health and safety assurance for commissioning with energized systems and transitions between construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Assure controls for simultaneous operations near energized electrical systems and high-voltage infrastructure.
• Verify exclusion zones, barriers, permits, and access controls near energized infrastructure.
• Ensure personnel are competent and authorized to perform activities.
• Conduct field assurance and inspections, escalating significant risks as needed.
• Provide technical assurance of electrical safety studies (arc flash, grounding, protection).
• Monitor performance, incidents, and leading indicators to identify trends and drive corrective actions.
• Support improvement of campus electrical/commissioning safety standards and tools.

What we need:

Reporting to the Construction Health and Safety Manager - Indonesia, the Health & Safety Assurance Specialist – Electrical provides specialist Health and Safety oversight and technical assurance for electrical and commissioning activities across Digital Edge’s Cikarang data center campuses, independently verifying the adequacy and effective implementation of critical electrical and commissioning safety controls, while working closely with Construction, Project Management, General Contractors, and Commissioning teams to strengthen the planning and safe execution of high-risk electrical activities while maintaining clear contractor accountability.

This role is based on-site in Cikarang, Indonesia.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide specialist Health and Safety oversight and technical assurance for electrical and commissioning activities across the Cikarang campuses, with particular focus on high-risk and complex activities.
• Review electrical and commissioning plans, risk assessments, method statements, permits, and associated controls, ensuring activities are identified and appropriately planned through the three-week look-ahead process.
• Provide technical assurance for energization and re-energization activities, including readiness, switching arrangements, system integrity, personnel protection, and required controls.
• Verify effective energy isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) arrangements, including isolation, testing, verification, and restoration controls.
• Provide Health and Safety assurance for commissioning activities involving energized systems, testing, temporary power, and transitions between construction, commissioning, and operational states.
• Assure effective controls for simultaneous operations involving construction, commissioning, and energized electrical systems, including activities in the vicinity of high-voltage transmission lines and other energized electrical infrastructure within or adjacent to the campus.
• Verify appropriate exclusion zones, approach distances, barriers, access controls, permits, and other protective measures for work near energized electrical infrastructure, including coordination with relevant utilities and authorities where required.
• Verify that electrical and commissioning activities are undertaken by appropriately competent and authorized personnel.
• Conduct field assurance and inspections of electrical and commissioning activities, independently verifying that critical safety controls are in place, effective and maintained throughout execution, providing constructive challenge and escalating significant risks where controls, conditions or practices do not meet requirements.
• Provide technical assurance of electrical safety studies and associated controls, including arc flash assessments, electrical protection, grounding, and other site-specific electrical safety requirements.
• Monitor electrical and commissioning performance, incidents, near misses, assurance findings, and leading indicators to identify trends and systemic risks and drive lessons learned and corrective actions.
• Support the continuous improvement and implementation of campus electrical and commissioning Health and Safety standards, requirements, checklists, and assurance tools aligned with applicable legislation, recognized standards, and Digital Edge requirements.
• Actively champion and implement the organization ’ s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate:

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline, with recognized professional Health and Safety and/or electrical safety qualifications.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, electrical safety, commissioning, or Health and Safety assurance, including substantial hands‑on experience in electrical installation, testing, energisation, switching or commissioning activities within large-scale, complex, mission‑critical or high‑risk environments.
• Proven experience within data centers, pharmaceutical, chemical, process industries, or other large-scale high‑risk construction environments.
• Strong practical knowledge of electrical safety, including energization, switching, energy isolation/LOTO, testing, commissioning, electrical protection, and work near energized systems.
• Strong understanding of arc flash risk, electrical safety studies, approach boundaries, grounding, and other critical electrical risk controls.
• Demonstrated experience providing Health and Safety assurance during electrical commissioning and transitions from construction to live operational environments.
• Experience assuring simultaneous operations involving energized electrical systems, construction, commissioning, and other high‑risk activities.
• Strong understanding of Indonesian electrical safety legislation and regulatory requirements, recognized international standards, and industry good practices.
• Proven ability to provide independent technical assurance and constructive challenge to General Contractors, Commissioning teams, electrical specialists, and other stakeholders while maintaining effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct field assurance across active construction, commissioning, and live operational environments.
• Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
