POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Coach is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all fitness, coaching, and training services within the Wellness Center. This role requires a balance of managerial skills, advanced coaching expertise, and a strategic mindset to drive member retention, staff development, and program excellence in alignment with the center's holistic wellness philosophy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Personal Trainers and Instructors, conducting regular performance reviews and providing consistent, constructive feedback.
- Scheduling and Staffing: Create and manage the weekly/monthly schedule for all coaching staff and group fitness classes, ensuring adequate coverage and optimal resource utilization.
- Sales and Revenue: Collaborate with the Sales team to set and achieve targets for Personal Training package sales and membership retention.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY
- Curriculum Design: Design, implement, and continuously evaluate the center’s signature fitness programs, class schedules, and personalized training modules, ensuring high standards of safety and effectiveness.
- Holistic Approach: Ensure all coaching programs integrate the center's holistic wellness philosophy (e.g., incorporating recovery, mindfulness, and nutrition principles).
- Quality Control: Conduct regular audits of coaching sessions and classes to ensure consistency in delivery, client experience, and adherence to professional standards.
- Client Relations: Handle complex client inquiries, high-level coaching consultations, and manage elevated client feedback and complaints.
OPERATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
- Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and proper use of all fitness equipment, recommending replacements or upgrades as necessary.
- Budget Oversight: Assist the General Manager in forecasting and managing the operational budget for the coaching department.
- Compliance: Ensure the entire coaching team complies with all internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and industry certifications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4–5 years of experience as a Personal Trainer, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role (e.g., Fitness Manager, Head Coach).
- Certification: Must possess current and accredited certifications (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, or equivalent). Additional certifications in specialized wellness areas (e.g., Nutrition Coaching, Pilates, Yoga) are highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in English (fluency required, second language a plus).
- Proven track record in managing a team and exceeding sales/retention targets.
- Proficiency in using gym management software (e.g., Mindbody, Wellyx, etc.).
