A leading oil and gas company based in Indonesia is seeking a Government Relations Manager to monitor and interpret regulatory policies affecting the organization. The role involves building effective relationships with government officials, ensuring compliance with laws, and mitigating regulatory risks. Candidates should have a strong background in government relations and fluency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills.
Monitor, analyze, and interpret government regulations, policies, and legislation impacting the company.
Ensure timely compliance with all government requirements to avoid fines, penalties, and business disruptions.
Represent the company’s interests with government authorities and industry associations.
Build and maintain effective relationships with government officials, ministries, and regulatory bodies at both central and local levels.
Act as the primary point of contact between the company and government agencies.
Proactively manage sensitive issues that could affect the company’s reputation or operations.
Identify potential regulatory risks and propose strategies to mitigate them.
Provide early warning on emerging government policies and trends that may affect business operations.
Support crisis management by liaising with government stakeholders during sensitive situations.
Work closely with senior management and business units to align business strategies with government regulations and priorities.
Provide guidance and training to internal teams on regulatory requirements and government processes.
Coordinate with Group Government Affairs on policy updates, reporting, and strategic alignment.
Maintain accurate records of government interactions, licenses, and approvals.
Prepare regular reports for management on regulatory developments and GAD activities.
Review of CPKO / CPKO agreements.
Negotiate with CPKO / CPKO vendors regarding any disputes for quality / quantity, demurrage etc.
Review of Charter Party contracts.
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Political Science, International Relations, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 8–10 years of proven experience in government relations, corporate affairs, regulatory compliance, working in government sectors, embassies, or a related field in Indonesia.
Strong network and credibility with government institutions, ministries, and local authorities.
Excellent understanding of Indonesia’s regulatory framework, political landscape, and business environment.
Experience in managing sensitive government issues and mitigating regulatory risks.
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (spoken and written).
Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
High integrity, resilience, and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Cross-cultural awareness and alignment with IFFCO’s global standards.
