Job summary

PT Alpha Magsaysay, Indonesia is seeking an Engine Crew member to perform cleaning and painting in the engine room and assist the foreman with engine and auxiliary maintenance. The role requires a minimum of 12 months on-board ship experience and a strong focus on safety.

You will also serve as a rigging helper during heavy lifting, assist with bunkering operations, and execute duties assigned by the foreman while maintaining clear communication with supervisors.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and painting of engine room machinery and spaces.
• Work as riggers for heavy parts transport and landing on board.
• Assist engineers/machinists with overhauls and maintenance as directed by foreman.
• Bunkering of ship tender while at anchor and during port bunkering operations.
• Assist with installing/removing bunker hoses and support during bunkering.
• Remove dirt and garbage from engine room.
• Other duties as assigned by the Foreman.

Description

As a member of the Engine Crew team, you will be responsible for carrying out duties such as cleaning and painting jobs in the engine room spaces, and other tasks designated by the Foreman. Other duties may include fire watch in machinery spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning and painting of various machinery, equipment and engine room spaces.
• Work as riggers when heavy parts or equipment have to be transported or to be landed or brought on board.
• Assist engineers and/or machinists with overhauls on engines and auxiliaries as directed by the foreman.
• Bunkering of ship tender while at anchor.
• Assist with installing/removing bunker hoses at bunkering port. Assist assistant engineer while bunkering.
• Removing dirt and garbage from engine room
• Other duties as assigned by the Foreman.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Successful candidates will have accured at least 12 months experience working onboard a ship in the rank of (at least) Engine Rating.
Safety comes always first and the Engine Crew makes effective decisions during his work and reports all his finding to his direct supervisor. The position requires engineering problem solving skills and engine maintenance skills. An ability to demonstrate efficient decision making and communicates effective with their supervisor is also needed.
