Task and Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Design
- Review project specifications, drawings, and standards.
- Prepare single‑line diagrams (SLD), layouts, and load calculations.
- Project Coordination & Management
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure project scope, budget, and schedule are met.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical inputs.
- Prepare material requisitions and technical specifications.
- Evaluate supplier quotations and support procurement.
- Ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
- Supervise site installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with drawings, standards, and safety requirements.
- Plan and execute pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Ensure systems are energized and operational as per specifications.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure electrical works comply with national/international codes (IEC, IEEE, NEC, etc.).
- Follow QA/QC procedures and safety regulations.
- Conduct inspections and resolve NCRs (non‑conformance reports).
- Project Handover & Documentation
- Prepare as‑built drawings, operation manuals, and test reports.
- Train client/end‑user on system operation.
- Support project closure and handover to operations/maintenance team.
In summary: An Electrical Project Engineer ensures the successful design, procurement, installation, testing, and delivery of electrical systems within a project, while managing coordination, compliance, and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in related fields.
- Digital proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel (calculation analysis), PowerPoint (project summaries).
- Technical proficiency: mechanical drawing knowledge; familiarity with production, machining, and manufacturing processes advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder coordination and quality checks (FATs).
- Experience in construction sites, EPC projects, or power plants highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, protection & control systems, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, EPLAN, Dialux, MATLAB.
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, ANSI, BS).
- Understanding of the project lifecycle (concept, design, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning).
- Knowledge of HV/MV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, cables, grounding, and protection systems.
- Ability to prepare and review single‑line diagrams (SLD), layouts, schematics, and BOQs.
- Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, ERP systems).
