The EAP Infrastructure Department is responsible for project lending and policy advisory work in the energy; transport; urban, land, and resilience, and related climate action and private capital mobilization space for the EAP Region. The department presently comprises an energy and extractives unit, a transport unit, and two urban units.
The energy unit [IEAE1] manages a diverse program of projects, analytic and advisory work. The principal themes underlying the lending and advisory engagements include access to modern energy services; transitioning to a clean energy mix away from coal; climate resilient energy infrastructure; regional energy connectivity, integration and trade; governance reforms and financial strengthening of state-owned enterprises/utilities; and reforming sector regulations to improve the environment for efficient private finance solutions.
The World Bank seeks a qualified national Extended Term Consultant – Energy Specialist to be based in the Jakarta, Indonesia office. The position sits within East Asia and Pacific (EAP) Energy Practice and is central to the delivery of one of the Bank’s significant energy programs in the region. The Consultant will support the Jakarta core energy team in supervising active lending operations, developing new business, and advancing the policy and sector dialogue underpinning the Indonesia energy program.
The successful candidate will report the Practice Manager and on the day-to-day activities to the Indonesia–Timor-Leste Energy Program Coordinator / Lead Energy Specialist and the respective Task Team Leaders (TTLs) of the projects. She/he will collaborate with TTLs on a day-to-day basis while taking ownership of specific daily operations and workstreams as agreed with the TTLs.
