To assist and support the General Manager in providing strategic and operational leadership across PT Buana Mahayasa Sakti (BMS), a leading manufacturer of flavoring/spice compounds and filter rods for the cigarette industry. The Deputy General Manager ensures efficient end-to-end production of flavoring/spice compounds and filter rods for cigarettes, oversees the effective wholesale trading and distribution of tobacco and cigarette products, and upholds high standards of productivity, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout the company.
Work Conditions
- Full-time, on-site position at the Factory and/or in HQ in Kudus.
- May require extended hours or overtime during peak production seasons to meet targets.

Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight
- Lead and oversee production of flavor/spice compounds and filter rods, ensuring efficiency and timely delivery.
- Ensure output meets quality standards and demand, coordinating with production and QC teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Drive continuous improvement in production methods to enhance efficiency, product consistency, and yield.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Establish and enforce product quality standards, ensuring flavor, aroma, and physical consistency across kretek and white cigarette lines.
- Ensure full compliance with tobacco regulations, excise (cukai), packaging and labeling laws, and certifications (e.g., BPOM, SNI).
- Promote strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards in all facilities.
- Commercial & Sales Management
- Develop and implement national sales and distribution strategies to meet revenue, market share, and availability goals.
- Oversee key distributor and retailer relationships, ensuring strong partnerships and effective market coverage.
- Work with marketing to support brand development and promotional activities in compliance with industry regulations.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities, adapting business strategies to maintain competitiveness.
- Control budgets and operational spending, ensuring cost efficiency across manufacturing and sales.
- Analyze production cost per unit and implement savings or process improvements to maintain profitability.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with R&D to support new product development and blend improvements aligned with market demand.
- Work with procurement, logistics, and maintenance to ensure reliable raw material supply, efficient distribution, and high equipment uptime.
- Act as primary liaison with regulators (Customs & Excise, BPOM, and related authorities).
- Reporting to Directors
- Present regular reports on production, sales, costs, and compliance to the Board, highlighting performance and risks.
- Provide strategic recommendations on operations, investments, and expansion opportunities.
- Ensure directives from the Board are implemented effectively across all departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Business Management, Engineering (e.g. Industrial or Chemical Engineering), or a related field; a Master’s degree (S2/MBA) is an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing/operations and commercial roles, including at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership position. Experience in the tobacco industry, food flavorings, or other highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of driving operational improvements and business growth, with demonstrable achievements in improving efficiency, quality, or profitability in previous roles.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills to lead diverse teams effectively.
- Strategic and analytical thinking for business growth, operational efficiency, and problem solving.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems, including lean and Six Sigma.
- Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Office, and data analysis for planning and reporting.
- High integrity, professionalism, and knowledge of ethics and compliance in a regulated industry.
- Basic proficiency in English (written and spoken) is an advantage.
