Job summary

Digital Edge Data Center is seeking a Senior Design Delivery Manager to lead the mechanical design and delivery for APAC data centre projects, focusing on HVAC, chilled water, and liquid cooling readiness.

You will oversee from concept to IFC, coordinating across disciplines and managing consultants and vendors while ensuring regulatory compliance and design integrity. Mentoring and safety leadership are integral to the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 8 years in electrical/mechanical design and delivery for data centres or hyperscale facilities.

Job description

Senior Design Delivery Manager

Lead the design and delivery process for data centre projects across the APAC region, with a primary focus on mechanical systems such as HVAC, chilled water systems, and liquid cooling readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical/Mechanical Design Leadership:
  Drive the mechanical design development, including HVAC, cooling distribution systems, chilled water plants, and white space air management, ensuring alignment with performance, efficiency, and operational goals; contribute to initializing cooling plant or various equipment standard operating procedures (SOPs) and producing clear, comprehensive technical advice to support technical review process across different manufacturers.
• End-to-End Design Delivery:
  Oversee the delivery of the full data centre design scope—from concept to IFC—ensuring technical quality, timely execution, and alignment with customer and business requirements.
• Integrated Design Management:
  Lead coordination across disciplines—mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, structural, and security—to ensure seamless integration of the design.
• Consultant and Vendor Management:
  Manage design consultants and key vendors, reviewing deliverables and resolving technical challenges to ensure compliance and constructability.
• Design Assurance & Technical Reviews:
  Conduct design reviews and risk assessments to validate that mechanical systems meet internal requirements, regulatory standards, and operational best practices.
• Documentation & Standardization:
  Maintain and improve internal design guidelines, technical specifications, and standard details to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
• Construction & Commissioning Support:
  Interface with construction and commissioning teams to ensure mechanical systems are installed and tested as per design intent. Review and validate the Sequence of Operations (SOO) during T&C.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Stay informed on industry trends and evolving cooling technologies (e.g., liquid cooling, hybrid solutions) to drive innovation and future‑proof our designs.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  Communicate design concepts, progress updates, and risks effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and senior management.
• Mentoring:
  Contribute to mentoring junior team members and support the identification and development of training programs for new team members as the team grows.
• Health & Safety & Quality Leadership:
  Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering studies or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical/mechanical system design and delivery, with at least 3 years in hyperscale or colocation data centres.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, chilled water, free cooling, and white space environmental control.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint; Revit or BIM coordination experience is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to manage consultants and lead design integration across disciplines.
• Familiar with APAC regional design codes and international standards (ASHRAE, ISO, etc.).
• Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Experience with liquid cooling or AI workload readiness is a plus.
