We are a company engaged in the operation of gas regasification facilities (processing, storing, and vaporizing LNG into gas and supplying it to power plants) located in Nias. Open vacancy as Crane Operator – Shipment & Logistics Operations.

Job Purpose

The Crane Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating overhead, portal, gantry, or mobile cranes to load, unload, move, and position cargo, containers, and heavy equipment within shipping terminals, ports, warehouses, or industrial facilities. This role ensures the timely and secure handling of shipments while adhering to strict safety, regulatory, and operational standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate various types of cranes (bridge cranes, gantry cranes, mobile cranes, container handlers, fleet cranes) to lift, move, and place heavy loads, including shipping containers, pallets, machinery, and raw materials.
  • Accurately position cargo onto trucks, railcars, ships, or storage areas according to shipment schedules and layout plans.
  • Coordinate with dockworkers, logistics coordinators, and supervisors to ensure correct identification and routing of shipments.
  • Verify cargo labels, manifests, and documentation before lifting to prevent misplacement or damage.
  • Handle hazardous, oversized, or high‑value cargo with extra care and compliance.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Conduct pre‑shift inspections of crane equipment (hydraulics, brakes, hooks, cables, limit switches) and report malfunctions immediately.
    • Follow OSHA, MSHA, ISO, or local safety regulations and company safety protocols.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety zones during operations.
  • Maintenance & Reporting:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks (lubrication, cleaning, minor adjustments) as per manufacturer guidelines.
    • Log daily crane usage, incidents, repairs, and fuel/oil consumption in digital or paper logs.
    • Participate in scheduled maintenance and assist technicians during repairs.
  • Communication & Coordination:
    • Communicate clearly with signal persons, spotters, and ground crew using hand signals, radios, or intercom systems.
    • Collaborate with warehouse, customs, and transportation teams to meet shipment deadlines.
    • Maximize crane uptime and throughput by optimizing movement patterns and minimizing downtime.
    • Adapt quickly to changing workloads, weather conditions, and emergency situations.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational training in crane operation preferred.

Certification: Valid Crane Operator Certification (e.g., NCCCO, CCO, or equivalent national certification).

Experience: 2+ years of hands‑on experience operating fleet cranes in logistics, port, or industrial environments.

Skill
  • Strong spatial awareness and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and shipping manifests.
  • Knowledge of weight limits, center of gravity, and load dynamics.
  • Proficient in using crane control panels, load indicators, and safety systems.
Physical Requirements

Able to climb ladders, work at heights, and stand for long periods.

Good vision (corrected or uncorrected), hearing, and physical stamina.

Other: Clean driving record (if operating mobile cranes); ability to pass drug screening and background check.

Outdoor and indoor settings (ports, rail yards, manufacturing plants, distribution centers).

Exposure to noise, dust, extreme temperatures, and moving machinery.

May require shift work, weekends, holidays, or on‑call availability due to 24/7 logistics operations.
