Job summary

DayOne is seeking an accomplished Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning function across one or more complex data center construction projects. You will provide strategic leadership, standardize processes, and oversee cross-functional teams to ensure quality, risk management, and successful handover to operations.

The role requires deep technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and controls systems, and a proven track record with hyperscale or enterprise data centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering.
• 7-10+ years of commissioning/data center delivery.
• 5+ years in leadership or multi-project management.
• Proven track record leading large-scale commissioning for hyperscale or enterprise data centers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commissioning strategy and execution for multiple data center projects.
• Define and standardize commissioning processes and best practices across the project portfolio.
• Oversee commissioning teams, third-party agents, OEMs, and contractors during commissioning lifecycle.
• Provide governance, review, and sign-off on commissioning plans, schedules, and protocols.
• Interface with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders at senior levels, ensuring expectations are aligned and met.
• Lead risk reviews and ensure mitigation plans are in place for high-impact systems.
• Lead FAT, SAT, IST testing and handover packages.

Job Summary

We are seeking an accomplished Commissioning Manager to lead and oversee the commissioning function across one or more complex data center construction projects. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership across cross-functional teams, and a strong focus on quality, risk management, and client satisfaction. The successful candidate will ensure the successful delivery of mission-critical infrastructure, from pre-design through integrated systems testing and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Lead the commissioning strategy and execution for multiple concurrent or large-scale data center projects.
• Define and standardize commissioning processes, tools, and best practices across the project portfolio.
• Act as the senior technical authority for all commissioning activities.
• Project Oversight: Oversee commissioning teams, third-party agents, OEMs, and contractors during commissioning lifecycle.
• Provide governance, review, and sign-off on commissioning plans, schedules, and protocols.
• Interface with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders at senior levels, ensuring expectations are aligned and met.
• Team & Resource Management: Manage and mentor a team of Commissioning Managers, Engineers, and Technicians.
• Plan and allocate resources efficiently across multiple project sites.
• Support hiring, training, and performance management of commissioning personnel.
• Quality, Risk & Compliance: Establish KPIs and ensure delivery meets or exceeds design intent, performance, and uptime requirements.
• Lead risk reviews and ensure mitigation plans are in place for high-impact systems or stages (e.g., IST).
• Ensure full compliance with codes, standards, and client-specific requirements (ASHRAE, Uptime Tier Guidelines, LEED, ISO, etc.).
• Testing & Turnover: Lead the execution and review of: Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Oversee final documentation, commissioning reports, redlines, and turnover packages.
• Ensure successful handover to operations teams and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions.
• Core Systems Overseen:
  • Electrical: UPS systems, MV/LV Switchgear, Generators, PDUs, ATS/STS, Busways.
  • Mechanical: Chillers, CRAHs, Cooling Towers, Pumps, HVAC Controls.
  • Controls: BMS, EPMS, SCADA, Fire Detection & Suppression Systems.
  • Other Critical Systems: Life safety, structured cabling infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
• Experience: 7-10+ years of relevant experience in commissioning/data center delivery. 5+ years in a leadership or multi-project management role.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale commissioning efforts for hyperscale or enterprise data centers.
• Certifications (Preferred): Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) – BCA; Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP) – ASHRAE; Project Management Professional (PMP) – PMI; Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer or Specialist; LEED AP or equivalent is a plus.
