Business Development Executive – Marine Agency Service
Responsibilities
- Conduct both inside and outside sales activities to develop assigned market sectors, with primary focus on the wet sector (oil, chemical, gas, edible oils), dry bulk (agricultural, fertilizer, minerals), and biomass. Market focus sectors may be adjusted based on evolving market conditions and strategic priorities.
- Establish and build strong relationships (through face‑to‑face meetings, phone calls) with companies operating within the key target market sectors (mentioned previously) – aiming to generate business leads and understand where the business is controlled.
- Establish and form a comprehensive client target pipeline, identifying key decision makers and prospect volumes of calls, understanding the customers’ expectations and requirements together with anticipated revenue projections.
- Accurately forecast monthly, quarterly and annual revenue streams.
- Ensure visit reports are written summarizing what was discussed at each meeting; distribute to relevant staff and add to the CRM (P360). Also use other marketing aids and systems such as the Port 360 Operations platform as required.
- Attend, network and maintain membership of local and overseas maritime networking organisations and events.
- Assist with market research and identify new principals and industry sectors with a view to having BLA appointed as agents in Indonesia.
- Domestic and overseas travel may be required to help generate business for the assigned geographical market as and when required.
- Assist with chasing any financial outstanding from principals of concern.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Business, Maritime Studies, International Relations, or related fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
- Minimum 2‑5 years of working experience in sales.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
Skills & Experience
- Sales and client relationship management, especially in maritime or marine agency services.
- Market research and lead generation across multi‑national accounts.
- Strong understanding of port and vessel operations within the Asia Pacific region.
- Strategic thinking with ability to build target pipelines and revenue projections.
- Proficient in report writing, follow‑ups, and CRM/database systems.
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the scope of marine agency services.
- Depth knowledge of port procedures and regulations.
- Knowledge of sales cycles and client targeting.
- Awareness of key players in the maritime and logistics industries.
