Job summary

PT Shunda Flavor Nusantara, based in Central Jakarta, seeks a Beverage R&D Engineer to join our innovation team on a full-time basis. The role focuses on product development, formulation, and quality assurance for our beverage portfolio.

The successful candidate will design new formulas, conduct flavor profiling, and manage stability testing, with collaboration across marketing, production, and supply chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a food-related discipline; 2+ years of R&D experience in the beverage industry.
• Proficient in beverage formula design, sensory evaluation methods, and stability testing.
• Familiar with beverage production equipment, process workflows, and quality management systems (HACCP/ISO).
• Knowledgeable about food additives, flavor blending techniques, and relevant regulations for foods & beverages.
• Excellent innovation, analytical problem-solving, project management, and communication skills. Mandarin is a plus; English required.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual design, formula development, flavor profiling, stability testing, and cost estimation of new beverage products.
• Resolve technical challenges during experimental and scale‑up production phases; optimize existing formulas and processes.
• Pilot-scale validation and trial production; establish production parameters and standards.
• Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, production, and sales to drive high-quality project completion.
• Develop and formulate new beverage products including soft drinks, juices, and ready-to-drink solutions.

About the role

PT Shunda Flavor Nusantara is seeking a talented Beverage R&D Engineer to join our innovation team on a full-time basis in Central Jakarta. This role is pivotal to our company's mission of developing cutting-edge beverage products that meet consumer demands and regulatory standards. As a Beverage R&D Engineer, you will be at the forefront of product development, formulation, and quality assurance, driving innovation and excellence across our beverage portfolio. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our product lines whilst working with state-of-the-art food technology and safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

New Product R&D: Responsible for the conceptual design, formula development, flavor profiling, stability testing, and cost estimation of new beverage products (e.g., fruit juices, tea drinks, plant-based beverages);

Technical Problem-Solving: Resolve technical challenges encountered during the experimental and scale-up production phases—such as stability, mouthfeel, and flavor authenticity and optimize existing product formulas and production processes;

Production Support: Assist with pilot-scale validation and trial production of new products; establish production process parameters and standards; and provide technical support to the production department to ensure the successful transition of R&D outcomes;

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, supply chain, production, and sales departments to drive the high-quality completion of R&D projects.

Develop and formulate new beverage products, including soft drinks, juices, functional beverages and ready-to-drink solutions

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a food-related discipline; 2+ years of R&D experience in the beverage industry; preference given to candidates who have led or played a core role in the successful launch of beverage products;

Proficient in beverage formula design, sensory evaluation methods, and stability testing;

Familiar with beverage production equipment (e.g., homogenizers, UHT systems), process workflows, and quality management systems (e.g., HACCP/ISO);

Knowledgeable about the application of food additives, flavor blending techniques, and relevant national regulations and standards for food and beverages;

Possesses excellent innovation, analytical problem-solving, project management, and communication/coordination skills, along with keen insight into market trendsBachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline

Proficiency in English is required , can speak Mandarin is an advantage
