Job description

Assistant Manager – Mould Production has a significant role in the business. It includes full responsibility for managing the company’s Mould Development Team that manufactures the moulds required to produce all the company’s precast concrete products.

Required attributes

• Strong Carpentry skills.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings for the making of timber moulds.
• Managing people.
• Ability to speak and read English.

Required education

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in carpentry.

Preferred attributes

• Familiarity with CAD software and computer‑controlled machinery.
• Experience as a Mould Maker or similar role in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of different mould making techniques and materials.

Specific responsibilities

• Interpreting CAD technical drawings to understand mould specifications.
• Being able to use, and directing other employees to use, various tools, equipment, and machinery to fabricate mould components, such as cores, cavities, and inserts, according to design specifications.
• Collaborating with designers and other team members to ensure that mould designs meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
• Conducting inspections and tests on completed moulds to ensure they meet quality standards, making necessary adjustments or repairs as needed.
• Troubleshooting and fixing any issues or malfunctions with moulds.
• Identifying and resolving problems in mould making to minimize production downtime.
• Managing the maintenance and repair of existing moulds.
• Adhering to safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and quality control standards throughout the mould making process.
• Documenting and maintaining accurate records of mould specifications, modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Professional development if lacking

• Proficient knowledge of mould making techniques, materials, and processes.
• Strong understanding of CAD software, and technical drawings as they relate to the company’s products.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to mould making.

Quality Management System

The Assistant Manager – Mould Production will be required to ensure that his Mould Making Team conforms with the company’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
