Mandarin Oriental Jakarta is seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to supervise Public Area teams and ensure exceptional cleanliness and guest satisfaction across all public spaces. The role reports to the Housekeeping leadership and requires a luxury-hotel mindset and strong people skills.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years in a supervisory housekeeping role within a luxury environment, with excellent English communication and organizational abilities.

• Reading, writing and speaking English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Team Leaders of Public Area and Public Area Attendants.
• Oversee cleaning of all hotel public areas to ensure guest satisfaction.

• Train new colleagues and support career development for current staff.
• Manage daily briefings and ensure smooth operations day and night.
• Coordinate with Front Office, F&B and other departments for inter-departmental cooperation.

About The Job

Based Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, the Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for supervise Team Leaders of Public Area and Public Area Attendants and oversee the efficient cleaning of all hotel’s public area ensuring consistency to enhance guest experience. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager reports to the Assistant Executive Housekeeper.

As Assistant Housekeeping Manager

you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Legendary Quality Experience (LQE)
• Responsible for maintaining the Legendary Quality Experience (LQE).
• Ensure customer satisfaction from arrival to departure in accordance with standards and procedures.
• Promote and recognize opportunities to provide guest service beyond expectations.
• Monitor guest satisfaction by following up on comments and complaints within 24 hours.
• Staff & Manpower Management
• Ensure sufficient manning in public areas and rooms according to operational demand.
• Ensure punctuality, uniforms, personal hygiene, and grooming standards are met.
• Monitor colleagues’ and housekeeping supervisors’ performance and provide on-the-job guidance.
• Assist with training of new colleagues and career development of current colleagues.
• Monitor training progress, identify team strengths and weaknesses.
• Set reasonable objectives for housekeeping supervisors to achieve.
• Report staff performance, incidents, and attitude to the Housekeeping Manager/Executive Housekeeper.
• Conduct regular coaching sessions.
• Operations & Supervision
• Conduct daily briefings to ensure smooth operation and focus staff on objectives.
• Follow up to establish solutions for problems and motivate colleagues to take ownership.
• Support Housekeeping during full-house situations (including room and public area checks).
• Supervise all Housekeeping operations during the day and night, ensuring smooth transitions between shifts.
• Work with other departments (Front Office, Food & Beverage, etc.) for inter-departmental cooperation.
• Attend meetings related to Front Desk operations and stay updated on hotel innovations.
• Maintenance & Supplies
• Plan and manage preventive maintenance for rooms and public areas with the Housekeeping Manager/Executive Housekeeper.
• Complete maintenance work orders and liaise directly with Engineering for urgent repairs.
• Monitor supplies, tools, and machinery to ensure availability, proper function, and stock sufficiency.
• Supervise outside contractors to ensure compliance with contracts.
• Administration
• Maintain departmental filing systems according to minimum requirements.
• Manage additional projects and tasks as requested by the Housekeeping Manager/Executive Housekeeper.
• Health, Safety & Standards
• Ensure health and safety company standards are maintained and monitored to achieve 100% in MOHG audits.
• Ensure Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta grooming and appearance standards are consistently implemented to reflect professionalism and care.

As Assistant Housekeeping Manager, We Expect From You
