John Galt Services seeks a full-time AI-Native Full-Stack TypeScript Engineer to serve two US customers concurrently, splitting time evenly. The role requires fluent English and remote collaboration with on-site Bali work arrangements.
You’ll own AI platforms, automate workflows, and integrate with major SaaS tools for two very different businesses. You will switch between healthcare-technology and hospitality domains, building frontend and backend tools, and ensuring clean separation of data
John Galt Services seeks a full-time AI-Native Full-Stack TypeScript Engineer to serve TWO US customers at the same time, splitting your time evenly between them:
A medical business: a healthcare-technology company that runs a Salesforce-based platform for bariatric surgery programs.
A hospitality business: a group operating a restaurant, a historic wedding venue, and a planned hotel.
Each customer runs its own dedicated AI platform instance: an assistant that lives in their Slack, reads their email and meetings, and writes and runs software on their behalf. Your job is to make both platforms deliver. You'll connect them to each customer's systems, turn real business pain points into dependable automations, and build the tools each business needs, almost all of it in TypeScript, front end to back end.
You won't be maintaining a legacy codebase nobody cares about. Both are small, founder-led operations with more ideas than engineering hands, and most of what you build will be new. You'll need to switch cleanly between two very different businesses and keep both happy.
You must be fluent in English. You will join our customers' teams as a remote member with real responsibilities, not busywork.
FLUENT SPOKEN & WRITTEN ENGLISH! You will communicate daily with a US-based team. Your English must be clear and confident, spoken and written. If you aren't sure, keep practicing and apply next time.
REAL SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE! We hire experienced developers who haven't yet made the leap to senior. You have years of real development behind you, not just coursework. You are comfortable across the stack: web front end, back-end services, and the API integrations that connect them.
SOLID TYPESCRIPT SKILLS! This is a TypeScript-intensive role, and your interview will dig deep into it. You must understand and value type safety: modelling a domain in types, using generics where they earn their keep, and keeping the compiler on your side. If your instinct is to slap any on everything and "fix it later," this isn't the right fit. You should have built real front-end AND back-end code in TypeScript, including Node.js back-end services.
REAL REACT EXPERIENCE! The front ends you build will be React. You must have shipped real React applications in TypeScript: components, hooks, state management, and talking to a back-end API. A tutorial to-do app does not count.
A PUBLIC GITHUB HISTORY! We will look at your GitHub profile before we look at anything else. Show us what you've built, especially your open-source contributions. If your GitHub is empty, this isn't the right fit.
CURIOSITY ABOUT AGENTIC CODING! You will do much of your work through an AI platform that writes code alongside you. It takes a couple of weeks to get fluent. If you think AI coding tools are a gimmick, or you expect them to do your thinking for you, keep looking.
YOU CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS! You'll be juggling two customers with different businesses, systems, and priorities. You must keep their work and data separate, split your time evenly between them, and switch context without dropping balls.
SELF-DIRECTED OWNERSHIP! You'll work with integrations you've never seen before: Salesforce, Atlassian, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, point-of-sale systems. You won't be expected to know them on day one, but you'll be expected to dig in and figure them out. If you need someone looking over your shoulder at every step, this role will be frustrating for both of us.
A DISCIPLINED ENGINEERING APPROACH! You test what you build. You read the requirements before you code. You document your work. You don't push to main and pray. We don't expect perfection. We DO expect professionalism.
You MUST have at least a Bachelor degree.
You MUST be willing to work late night hours.
You MUST either live on Bali or be willing to relocate to Bali.
You MUST have the right to work legally in Indonesia. JGS does NOT sponsor work visas!
Salesforce development (Apex, Lightning, Salesforce APIs). Not required, but this is the experience we want most. The medical customer's product is built on Salesforce, and Salesforce skills will put you at the front of the line.
AWS platform experience, especially serverless application development (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB)
REST API integrations with third-party SaaS platforms
Atlassian Jira & Bitbucket, Slack and Google Workspace APIs
AI coding tools and LLM-based workflows
QuickBooks, accounting, or point-of-sale integrations
Hospitality, restaurant, or inventory systems
For both customers:
Platform ownership: Configure and maintain each customer's AI platform instance and keep its integrations healthy.
Automation engineering: Turn recurring business processes into dependable, scripted jobs, including automated expense monitoring that catches cost anomalies before they add up.
Documentation: Document what you build so it can be understood and maintained.
For the medical customer:
Integrate with Slack, Google Workspace, Atlassian, and Salesforce.
Automate work like document-to-CRM data entry, marketing-content pipelines, and executive briefings.
Build front-end and back-end tools alongside the customer's existing developer, and help prototype new product ideas.
For the hospitality customer:
Connect point-of-sale systems through their APIs or through QuickBooks.
Automate expense tracking and restaurant inventory management.
Research the customer's existing systems and work out how to integrate them.
You report to each customer's owner, who sets day-to-day priorities for their share of your time. You coordinate technical work with each customer's existing technical staff. John Galt Services provides technical direction, architectural guidance, and mentoring.
You are supporting our customers remotely, but this is NOT a remote job! We will provide working space and equipment near Canggu, Bali. All work is performed on-site.
New associates start at a probationary pay scale of IDR 8 jt / month gross (i.e. before taxes & benefits). Your probationary period is three months.
After successfully completing probation, you become eligible for placement and performance bonuses that can significantly increase your total compensation:
Placement Bonus: Up to IDR 4,000,000/month when placed with clients, bringing your effective monthly compensation to IDR 12 jt / month gross.
Performance Bonus: Up to 50% of your total monthly compensation (base + placement bonus) for any month in which you meet or exceed expectations. This can bring your total pay as high as IDR 18 jt / month gross.
We also reserve a large pool of funds for staff perks, events & annual bonuses. If we are happy with your work, you will be VERY happy with your choice!
Also, our office is just minutes from the beach, right outside Canggu, Bali. If you know, you know!
You are the first engineer on what we expect to become a team. Both customers have more ideas than engineering capacity, and as the work outgrows one person, additional engineers will join. When that happens, you have a clear path to graduate into the team lead role: setting technical direction, mentoring the engineers who join after you, and owning delivery across both customers.
Good question! Might help to show up at your interview with an answer.
