Job summary

REAP Limited is seeking a Tech Lead for the Platform Team (Backend-Focused) to own integrations, API design, and cloud infrastructure. You will drive technical direction while remaining hands-on, with no people management required, and mentor engineers as part of a high-impact fintech platform.

Ideal candidates bring 8–10+ years in backend/platform engineering, strong leadership experience, and proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript, AWS, and modern CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in backend or platform engineering with focus on integrations.
• 2+ years in technical leadership (Tech Lead or similar) with delivery ownership.
• Backend stack includes Node.js and TypeScript; strong API experience.
• Experience with cloud delivery, CI/CD, and AWS-based infra.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools and LLm API integration.
• Database design and ORM experience (TypeORM) are a plus.
• Fintech/payments or financial services integrations are advantageous.

As we expand into new markets and scale our product suite, the demands on the platform are growing quickly, and we need deep technical leadership within our sub-teams to keep pace.

This role is a senior individual contributor position, acting as the Tech Lead for one of our Platform sub-teams. You'll own the technical direction, architecture, and delivery for your team's domain while staying hands-on with the code — no people management is required. It's an opportunity to shape critical financial infrastructure, set the technical bar, and drive impact through engineering rather than headcount.

Your Mission Awaits

• Integration design & development: Architect, build, and maintain robust integrations between our platform and external third-party systems. Ensure scalability, reliability, and security within our AWS environment.

• API engineering: Design and implement well-structured APIs and services that enable seamless data exchange across platforms, following best practices in versioning, authentication, and error handling.

• Cloud delivery & infrastructure: Build and operate services on AWS with strong CI/CD practices and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to enable reliable, repeatable deployments.

• Observability & reliability: Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for integrations. Investigate incidents, resolve root causes, and proactively harden systems against recurrence.

• AI-assisted engineering: Use AI tools in day-to-day development (e.g., for code generation, debugging, test creation, and documentation) and help establish practical AI adoption across the team.

• Technical leadership: Set technical direction and standards for the platform, lead architecture and design reviews, and drive alignment on complex, cross-team initiatives. Mentor and grow engineers, raising the bar on code quality, delivery, and engineering practices.

Your Superpowers

• Experience: 8-10+ years in backend or platform engineering, with a strong focus on system integrations, workflow orchestration, and API-driven solutions.

• Leadership: At least 2+ years in a technical leadership role (Tech Lead or Engineering Manager), with a track record of leading teams, owning architecture decisions, and delivering complex projects end to end.

• Backend: Preferably Node.js + TypeScript, with strong experience building APIs and working with event-driven/serverless systems. Open to strong backend engineers with other languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python) who can ramp up quickly.

• Cloud & delivery: Strong AWS experience and solid CI/CD practices (build/test/release pipelines, deployment automation, and operating production services).

• AI-assisted coding: Comfortable using AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex) and familiar with integrating LLM APIs (e.g., MCP, RAG).

• Database management: Hands-on experience with relational databases (AWS Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL), including schema design and ORM frameworks (TypeORM).

• Problem solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to debug complex integration flows and resolve issues across multiple systems.

• Domain advantage: Experience in fintech, payments, crypto, or financial services integrations is a plus.
