Job summary

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited is seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join our IT division. You will work on mission‑critical clearing and settlement systems for HKEX’s financial infrastructure, covering the full software development lifecycle, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Required: 5+ years in system development, strong Java, microservices, cloud platforms, and DevOps tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant IT discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in system development.
• Exposure to financial services or highly regulated industries is an advantage.
• Strong proficiency in Java development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement next‑generation clearing and settlement systems to support OTC derivatives.
• Maintain and enhance the OCASS with high availability and performance.
• Conduct unit, integration, and system testing; support UAT phases.
• Collaborate closely with business users, QA teams, and other IT units to ensure delivery.
• Prepare and maintain technical and functional documentation, deployment guides, and procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and system optimization.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

We are seeking a highly motivated Java Developer to join our dynamic IT division. The role involves working on mission‑critical systems that underpin Hong Kong’s financial infrastructure, covering the full software development lifecycle and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver innovative, secure, and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement next‑generation clearing and settlement systems to support OTC derivatives.
• Maintain and enhance the OTC Clearing and Settlement System (OCASS) while ensuring high availability and performance.
• Conduct unit, integration, and system testing; support user acceptance testing (UAT) phases.
• Collaborate closely with business users, QA teams, and other IT units to ensure smooth implementation and delivery.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical and functional documentation, deployment guides, and operational procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and system optimization.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related IT disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in system development.
• Exposure to financial services or highly regulated industries is an advantage.
• Strong proficiency in Java development.
• Experience with microservices architecture and cloud platforms (HCS preferred), including Kafka, Kubernetes, and containerized applications.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Jira, GitLab, Nexus, JUnit, SonarQube, Docker).
• Knowledge of Spring Boot, GaussDB, Hibernate, and Linux scripting.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and performance tuning.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to manage tasks independently under minimal supervision.

HKEX – TKO, Shift: Standard – 40 hours (Hong Kong SAR). Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Worker type: Contract.
