Job summary

BDO Limited is seeking an experienced Analyst Programmer in Hong Kong to drive end-to-end system development, from requirements gathering through post-implementation support. You will collaborate with business users, IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to design scalable and secure solutions.

The role emphasizes analyzing legacy systems, enhancing workflows with automation tools, and evaluating AI-enabled development approaches to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, IT, or related disciplines.
• 6+ years in system analysis, application development, solution design, system integration, and application support.
• Strong experience in requirement analysis, functional specs, technical docs, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Good knowledge of database design, T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, API integration, and system interface design.
• Experience in enterprise web app development, system modernization, and workflow automation preferred.
• Proactive on AI technologies and evaluating innovative ideas to improve development capability and efficiency.

Job description

Participate in the full system development life cycle, including requirement gathering, system analysis, solution design, development coordination, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support.

Work closely with business users, IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into practical, scalable, and secure system solutions.

Analyze existing applications, workflows, and legacy systems to identify enhancement, automation, integration, and modernization opportunities.

Prepare and maintain functional specifications, technical specifications, workflow diagrams, system documentation, API documentation, test plans, user guides, and other project deliverables.

Support system integration, API integration, data exchange, workflow automation, and application enhancement projects across business systems.

Evaluate and support the adoption of AI-enabled solutions, AI-assisted development tools, and enterprise-grade AI API integration where appropriate.

Design, build, and maintain automated business workflows using tools such as Power Automate, n8n, Zapier, or similar platforms.

Provide application support, including incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning, legacy code review, deployment support, and post-go-live support.

Provide technical guidance to developers and junior team members to ensure solution quality, maintainability, scalability, and security.

Ensure all solutions comply with enterprise data privacy, information security, internal control, and IT governance requirements.

Requirements

• Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in system analysis, application development, solution design, system integration, and application support.
• Strong experience in requirement analysis, functional specification preparation, technical documentation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Good knowledge of database design, T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, API integration, and system interface design.
• Experience in enterprise web application development, system modernization, legacy system enhancement, and workflow automation is preferred.
• Proactively keeps abreast of the latest AI technologies, tools, and industry trends, with the ability to evaluate and introduce innovative ideas to enhance development capability and operational efficiency.
• Strong learning agility, with the ability to quickly research, reverse-engineer, and prototype solutions for unfamiliar systems, frameworks, or emerging technologies.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools is an advantage.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, large language models, AI API integration, and practical AI application development is preferred.
• Experience with workflow automation platforms such as Power Automate, n8n, Zapier, or similar tools, as well as API integration, is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of software design principles, design patterns, dependency injection, system decoupling, and maintainable application architecture.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
• Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese. Mandarin is an advantage.
• Self-motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Candidates with less experience but demonstrating strong technical capability, learning agility, analytical mindset, and high development potential may be considered for the Analyst Programmer position.
