Job summary

Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Hong Kong Branch is seeking an experienced Data Governance professional to lead the design, deployment and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks, policies and standards across the organization.

You will oversee data quality, metadata, lineage and key data management, monitor quality metrics, and coordinate cross- department governance initiatives to ensure compliance and effective regulatory reporting in Hong Kong.

Qualifications

• Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Statistics or equivalent HKQF level 5.
• Minimum 5 years' solid experience in data governance, data management or related roles in banking/financial services.
• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK) and data quality, metadata, lineage and classification.
• Solid understanding of data warehouse/data lake architectures and data modeling; standardization experience.
• Proficient in SQL; Python or scripting knowledge for data profiling is preferred.

Job description

• Formulate and maintain data governance frameworks, policies and standards; drive the establishment and continuous improvement of data governance mechanisms across the organization
• Oversee data quality management, metadata management, key data management and data lineage tracking; monitor data quality metrics and drive remediation initiatives
• Plan and develop data governance platforms and tooling; coordinate cross-departmental data governance implementation and promote data standardization and compliance
• Conduct data governance assessment and maturity analysis

Requirements:

• Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Statistics or equivalent qualifications at HKQF level 5
• Minimum 5 years' solid experience in data governance, data management, data quality or related roles in banking or financial services
• Strong knowledge on data governance frameworks and methodologies (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK); familiar with data quality management, metadata management, key data management, data lineage and data classification
• Solid understanding of data warehouse, data mart, data lake and data platform architectures; experience in data modeling and data standardization
• Proficient in SQL; working knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for data profiling and quality checking is preferred
• Familiar with relevant regulations and compliance requirements on data privacy and data security
• Experience with data governance platforms or tools is preferred
• Experience in Hong Kong regulatory reporting data governance is preferred
• Self-motivated, responsible and able to work independently; strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Experience in banking industry is an advantage
• ECF achievement is the definite advantage

Candidate with less experience will be considered as Data Governance Manager
