Job summary

Randstad Hong Kong Limited is seeking a senior data engineer for a leading financial institution in Hong Kong. The role focuses on designing and building scalable ETL pipelines in real-time and batch modes, using Java and Python to deliver robust data applications.

You will model, cleanse, and govern data across Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, and cloud environments while collaborating with analysts and traders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of programming and data engineering experience within capital markets or FinTech.
• Advanced proficiency in Java and Python for application development and pipeline creation.
• Proven expertise in data modelling frameworks, schema design, and technical writing.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or Object-Oriented databases.
• Demonstrated proficiency working across public and private cloud environments.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical business users.
• Fluency in English, alongside proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin, is required.

• Write production-grade, highly performant applications using Java and Python.
• Normalize, cleanse, and validate data from multiple sources while building automation to enforce data quality standards.
• Coordinate data movement and schema evolution across a diverse matrix including Oracle, PostgreSQL, Object-Oriented databases, and NoSQL systems.
• Architect conceptual, logical, and physical data models tailored for transactional and analytical systems, maintaining meticulous schema documentation.
• Facilitate cross-departmental data working groups, collect technical requirements from business stakeholders, and translate needs into robust data schemas.
• Implement data security frameworks, access controls, and data quality monitoring tools.
