Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture

Applications are invited for appointment as Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture in the Division of Landscape Architecture, Department of Architecture (Ref. 537336), to commence on 1 September 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

We seek a productive and creative scholar whose research, teaching, and practice engages in critical dialogue with core concepts, histories, theories, and methods in the field of landscape architecture. Appointment will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates for Professor/ Associate Professor may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.

About the Division:

The Division of Landscape Architecture offers an internationally recognized, rigorous, and dynamic research and teaching environment within the Department of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong.

Staff members take an active part in shaping the Division’s culture through both teaching and administrative responsibilities in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.While we strive to continue to strengthen our regional leadership in the field of Landscape Architecture, we are actively developing international collaborations and building long-term relationships in greater Southeast Asia and beyond. Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a terminal degree in Landscape Architecture and preference will be given to those holding professional qualifications and/or a Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture, or to those who have experience in award-winning professional or creative practice. They should demonstrate an emerging record of research, teaching, and design through their scholarship and creative work as evidenced by peer review and successful funding applications. As the Division continues to build regional and international links with academic institutions and innovators working at the intersection of landscape architecture, ecology, and technology, applicants who have of potential for building such partnerships will be favored.

Responsibilities:

The appointee is expected to pursue a productive and innovative research and design agenda in line with their area of expertise and in support of larger Division educational and scholarly aims. Teaching responsibilities may include core and elective seminars and design studio courses within our Bachelor and Master’s programs in landscape architecture. The appointee will also be encouraged to attract and supervise PhD students. Broadly, the successful candidate will help build and sustain our innovation in design research and help deliver innovative teaching and community engagement that builds on ongoing research and pedagogical initiatives within the Division.

Compensation and Benefits:

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
