Job summary

Slaughter and May is seeking a paralegal for a 6-month fixed-term contract in its Hong Kong office. The role focuses on corporate work and AI initiatives, supporting Associates and Partners across HK and Beijing. A law degree is required, with 1–2 years’ relevant experience preferred.

Strong research, English, and business Chinese language skills are essential. The successful candidate will draft documents, conduct due diligence, and assist on IPO projects while handling AI-related governance

• Excellent computer and research skills. Exposure to AI or legal tech is a plus.
• Languages: fluent in English and able to read/draft business-level Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support on corporate and IPO projects, including due diligence and drafting documents.
• Assist on AI-related initiatives, governance, and policy work with Partners and Associates.
• Support Associates and Partners in Hong Kong and Beijing offices on corporate matters.
• Assist in interviewing third parties and verification of IPO documents.

Role Overview

We are recruiting a 6 months fixed-term contract Paralegal for our Hong Kong office to assist on corporate work and AI initiatives. The candidate will provide legal support to Associates and Partners of our Hong Kong and Beijing offices.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide legal support on AI-related initiatives, including legal research on AI regulatory developments and assisting with AI governance and policy work, as well as providing legal support to Partners and Associates, and to work alongside our Trainees.
• To assist in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research in corporate and commercial matters, including IPOs (e.g. interview DDQ, verification notes, A1 documents), and in relation to AI-related projects.
• To conduct due diligence, third party due diligence and interviews, and verification of documents on IPO projects.
• Other ad hoc duties as required by the Partners, Associates, Trainees and senior management.

Candidate Profile

• Law degree holder with strong academic results.
• 1-2 years’ experience in handling corporate and commercial matters in international law firms or multinational organisations will be an advantage.
• Fresh graduates with internship experience at international law firms will also be considered.
• Excellent computer and research skills. Exposure to AI, legal technology or innovation projects is a plus.
• Languages: fluent in English and able to read and draft in business-level Chinese.
• Proactive personality, positive and flexible. Eager to learn and take on new things.
• Good attention to detail, ability to multi-task and common sense.
• Strong sense of responsibility and excellent organisational skills, able to work independently and under pressure.
• Willing to work overtime if work requires.

Employment Terms

Fixed-term contract of 6 months, renewable subject to performance and business needs.
