Job description

JCAP

JCAP is a global macro hedge fund that invests across public and private markets, asset classes, and geographies with institutional rigor yet entrepreneurial agility.

Purpose of the Job

We are looking for talented and motivated interns to join our Global Macro and Equities hedge fund teams. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of financial markets, data, and technology, and to contribute meaningfully to our investment and research process.

As a Markets intern, you will work closely with portfolio managers and analysts on live investment decisions. This is a hands‑on role, and high‑performers will be given real responsibility and exposure to the investment process.

Internship Period: January 2027 start, 3-6 months duration (flexible dates)

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and analysing global macroeconomic developments across rates, FX, equities and commodities.

  • Tracking and interpreting economic data releases, central bank communications, and geopolitical events, and assess their cross‑asset market impact.

  • Building and maintaining research tools, dashboards, and data pipelines to support investment decision‑making.

  • Applying AI and data‑driven techniques to analyse, summarise, and synthetise large volumes of financial and market information.

  • Helping automate and improve internal research, monitoring, and reporting workflows.

  • Proposing and prototyping new ideas at the intersection of technology and investing to improve the team’s analytical edge.

  • Communicating regularly with team members, gather feedback, and iterate on tools and processes used in the investment workflow.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Exceptional English communication skills (verbal & written), with the ability to simplify complex ideas, and present analysis clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets and macroeconomic dynamics.

  • Highly analytical, rigorous, and comfortable working with data and ambiguity.

  • Proactive, self‑directed, and able to operate effectively in a small, high‑performance team environment.

  • Programming skills are strongly preferred.

  • Genuine curiosity about recent advances in artificial intelligence (e.g., foundation models, agents, workflow automation) and their application to research and investing.
