Job summary

FWD Group in Hong Kong is seeking a capable investment professional to support the Head of Alternative Investments in sourcing, evaluating and executing private market opportunities across buyout, private credit and real assets.

You will lead due diligence, build detailed models, coordinate with internal and external counsel, and prepare papers for Group committees while mentoring junior analysts.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5 years of investment banking, transaction execution or private market experience.
• CFA charter or actuarial qualification is an advantage.
• Degree in Finance, Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.

Purpose

Support the Head of Alternative Investments in sourcing, evaluating and executing private market investments across buyout, private credit and real assets. The role independently manages due diligence and transaction processes on assigned deals, and produces the analyses, models and portfolio reporting that underpin investment recommendations to Group committees. It serves as a coordination point between investment counterparties, external advisers and FWD's internal functional teams, ensuring transactions are progressed accurately and on time. The role also contributes to the development of junior analysts.

Key Accountabilities

• Independently manage investment due diligence and execution on assigned private market transactions (buyout, private credit, real assets), applying asset-class knowledge to assess risk, return and structure.
• Coordinate with internal and external counsel on the negotiation and documentation of transaction agreements, tracking issues to resolution and escalating material points.
• Design and build detailed financial analyses and models, and prepare reports and papers to support internal, regulatory and Group committee approvals.
• Develop and maintain portfolio projection and monitoring dashboards that inform decisions on new deployment, divestment and strategic partner discussions.
• Coordinate complex investment processes end-to-end across investment counterparties, Group and local functional teams (investment, actuarial, risk, legal, finance).
• Train and review the work of junior staff on investment analysis, Excel modelling and reporting tasks.

Qualifications / Experience

• Around 5 years of investment banking, transaction execution or private market investment experience.
• CFA charter or actuarial qualification an advantage.
• Degree in Finance, Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.

Knowledge & Technical Skills

• Private asset classes: Working knowledge of buyout, private credit and real assets (e.g. infrastructure, real estate, royalties, timberland) — including fund, co-investment and direct structures, typical deal mechanics, fee and waterfall arrangements, and key risk and return drivers of each class.
• Corporate finance & valuation: Discounted cash flow, comparable company and transaction multiples, LBO and credit analysis; ability to assess capital structure, leverage, covenants and downside scenarios.
• Financial modelling (Excel): Building and maintaining cash-flow, projection and portfolio-monitoring models; sensitivity and scenario analysis; clear, auditable model structure and documentation.
• Transaction documentation: Familiarity with the principal legal and commercial terms in term sheets and transaction agreements sufficient to coordinate diligence and track issues with internal and external counsel.
• Data & reporting tools: Proficiency in producing reports and dashboards and working with investment data sources to synthesise large data sets into actionable insight.
