Job summary

Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd is seeking an experienced Data Warehouse/ETL engineer to design, develop, and optimize robust data pipelines, integrating data from diverse banking sources.

The ideal candidate will have 6–8 years in ETL, data warehousing, and analytics within banking; strong SQL, Informatica/DataStage, Linux, and Python; plus excellent English and Putonghua communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 6–8 years of solid experience in data warehousing, ETL development, or data analytics, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
• Experience in compliance and financial systems.
• Deep understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and data modeling.
• Solid understanding of core ETL tools and data integration concepts (e.g., Informatica, DataStage, or similar).
• Strong proficiency in SQL across major databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with SAS Enterprise Guide and Python for data manipulation and analysis would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts to technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Good command of English and Chinese (Putonghua).
• Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Assistant Manager role.

Responsibilities

• Batch Job Design, develop, test, and implement robust ETL processes and data pipelines to integrate data from diverse banking data warehouse systems.
• Support complex data extraction requests for Finance and Risk Analytic aspects and data management activities.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, automate routine tasks, monitor production job schedules, and troubleshoot data pipeline failures for compliance and financial systems.
• Write and maintain programs for job automation, file transfers, and system maintenance tasks.
• Prepare technical specifications, system design documents, data dictionaries, and ensure all data management practices comply with internal bank data governance and security policies.
• Act as a technical mentor to junior developers, providing guidance on coding standards, ETL best practices, and banking data models.
