Job summary

Virtus Medical Group Limited is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in Hong Kong to support routine sample processing, labeling, and storage under the Laboratory Director's guidance. You will also manage clerical tasks, data entry into the information system, and coordination for specimens and reports while ensuring patient confidentiality and safety protocols.

The role requires handling hazardous waste, maintaining inventory, and communicating with clinics; some lab experience and fluency in English

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 passes in HKALE and five passes in HKCEE, including Chinese Language, English Language, and Mathematics.
• Previous lab experience is preferred.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Able to run MS Word, Excel, and input Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Follow the work assignment from the Laboratory Director.
• Perform routine sample processing: receive, label, and prepare samples for testing and storage.
• Waste disposal: safely handle, label, and dispose of hazardous biological and chemical waste.
• Clerical duties including document filing, data processing, compiling statistics, entering data and patient details into the information system, and processing inward and outward mail.
• Monitor reagent usage and update the inventory system.
• Arrange porters to pick up or deliver reports or samples to clinics, centres, or referral centres as needed.
• Handle specimens in proper order for dispatch.
• Handle phone inquiries and communicate with other clinics and departments.
• Upload laboratory reports.
• Provide feedback on work difficulties or deficiencies to the Laboratory Director.
• Protect patient information and confidentiality.
