Job summary

LRQA is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to work on EiQ, its AI-enabled data platform, across the full data lifecycle from raw data to production-ready datasets and models. You’ll support ESG and supply-chain insights, build scalable AI solutions, and ensure data quality and governance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will apply strong Python/SQL skills, develop cloud-based pipelines, and leverage generative AI approaches, with English proficiency required and Mandarin a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• At least one year of relevant professional experience in data science, ML, or a related field.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with maintainable, testable, reusable code.
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines from ingestion to curated data models or golden datasets.
• Solid understanding of ML methods, evaluation, sampling, experimentation, uncertainty, and causality.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data, data preparation, feature engineering, and model development.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: Azure, AWS, or GCP (Azure preferred).
• Knowledge of generative AI and LLM solution patterns (prompting, embeddings, vector search, RAG, evaluation, guardrails).
• Professional written and spoken English; Mandarin is a plus.
• Critical thinking, attention to detail, proactive and collaborative mindset, able to deliver in time-sensitive environments.

Responsibilities

• ESG insights: analyze data to generate actionable ESG and supply-chain risk insights.
• Data and AI solutions: design, build, deploy, and monitor scalable data pipelines and ML solutions for ESG and supply-chain use cases.
• Data quality and governance: prepare and integrate internal/external data ensuring quality, reliability, security, privacy, and responsible AI.
• Cloud delivery: develop scalable cloud-based data/AI solutions, preferably on Microsoft Azure, with AWS or GCP experience valued.
• Product development: contribute to design and continuous improvement of data, analytics, and AI products/services.
• Business impact: translate ESG challenges into analytical approaches, practical solutions, measurable outcomes.
• Collaboration and communication: work with cross-functional teams and communicate findings clearly to clients and stakeholders.
