Job summary
CNN in Hong Kong invites an undergraduate or master’s student to join the US News overnight desk as an intern. You will help writers with research, interview research, and daily story work in a fast-paced newsroom.
Fluency in English is required; candidates must have the right of abode in Hong Kong or a valid student visa with an NOL. The role spans 8 to 12 weeks, full-time, offering hands-on experience in journalism.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Masters degree.
- Strong passion in journalism and keen to develop strong editorial judgment skills in a fast-paced newsroom setting.
- Candidates must have the right of abode in Hong Kong or hold a valid student visa and No Objection Letter (NOL) from the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
- Candidates should ideally be able to commit to a full-time internship for 8 to 12 weeks.

The news desk is a team of writers, editorsand producers that deliver breaking news across CNN’s platforms, including news and feature articles on the cnn.com website, editorial for linear television, digital videos and more. We work closely with other teams to bring multiplatform coverage on both US and international news priorities.
The Intern, US News will assist the US overnight team writers with research, chasing reportable editorial and video, finding interviewees and conducting interviews, monitoring and pitching daily stories, and contributing writing. The candidate should have fluency in English; other language abilities are a plus.
