Job summary

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is seeking a Head of Sport Training to lead and manage its Core Sports Training sections, shaping programs and long-term strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders.   • Bachelor's degree in sports science, physical education, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years in sports coaching/training with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on coaching across multiple levels (youth, amateur, professional).
  • Proven ability to manage a team of coaches/trainers and oversee athlete development.
  • Experience creating structured training curricula and performance monitoring systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with athletes, parents, management and partners.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding policies, anti-doping regulations, and professional codes of conduct.

Job description

The Head of Sport Training will lead and manage the Core Sports Training sections at Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, overseeing the planning and execution of a Core Sports calendar of events and shaping long-term strategies for all Core Sports Training Sections in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Core Sports Training sections
  • Oversee the planning and execution of a Core Sports calendar of events, except sailing-related races
  • Collaborate closely with the Sailing and Rowing Captains, Sailing and Rowing Committees, sub committees, working groups, and office management to shape, facilitate and implement long term strategies for all the Core Sports Training Sections
  • Actively engage members to understand their needs and aspirations, ensuring programs align with the club's mission and values
  • Ensure all core sports programmes and courses for recreational and performance athletes, including youth development and schools, are designed and delivered to a high standard
  • Foster pathways for new members to progress from beginner courses to competitive rowing & paddling, cultivating a lifelong passion for the sport
  • Facilitate and support internal and external communications related to core sports, ensuring engaging and consistent messaging across social media, the club website, newsletters, and press
  • Develop high-quality content, including articles, event updates, and promotional materials, while maintaining strong relationships with media, sponsors, and stakeholders
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Sailing and Rowing Committee, ensuring financial prudence and transparency
  • Identify and pursue sponsorship and funding opportunities to support activities and events of the section
About you
  • Bachelor's degree in sports science, physical education, kinesiology, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years in sports coaching/training, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Several years of hands-on coaching or training athletes, ideally across multiple levels (youth, amateur, professional)
  • Proven ability to manage a team of coaches/trainers, design training programs, and oversee athlete development
  • Experience in creating structured training curricula, performance monitoring systems, and athlete progression pathways
  • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with athletes, parents, management, and external partners
  • Familiarity with safeguarding policies, anti-doping regulations, and professional codes of conduct
