Job summary

Han Academy in Hong Kong seeks a dedicated School Counselor to provide psychological support from Primary to Year 13, lead mental health initiatives, and manage SEN documentation to support student growth.

You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and university counselors, deliver wellbeing programs, and ensure safeguarding best practices in a diverse, international school community.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Valid professional certification or license in counseling or school psychology.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with students across multiple age groups.
• Experience in international school settings, especially with IBDP or Cambridge curricula.
• Familiarity with developmental psychology across ages 5-18.
• Training in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention.
• Strong case management and documentation skills.
• Cultural sensitivity and experience in multicultural environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Chinese language proficiency is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of child protection policies and safeguarding best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate individual and group counseling services addressing academic, social-emotional, and personal development.
• Conduct regular mental health screenings and early intervention programs.
• Offer crisis intervention and emotional support for students in distress.
• Facilitate smooth transitions for students entering new school divisions or coming from other educational systems.
• Design and implement a comprehensive K-12 counseling program aligned with international best practices.
• Develop and deliver preventative mental health education and wellbeing curriculum across year levels.
• Create, maintain, and review SEN documentation, assessment procedures, and individualized student support plans.
• Lead anti-bullying initiatives and positive behavior support programs.
• Consult with teachers on classroom management and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
• Conduct parent workshops and seminars on child development and mental health topics.
• Deliver professional development sessions for staff on student wellbeing and early identification of psychological concerns.
• Collaborate with university counselors to support senior students in post-secondary planning when needed.

Key Responsibilities
