Job summary

Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Ltd is seeking a senior Financial Markets professional to develop and deepen relationships with local and China corporate clients. You will deliver strategic FX, rates, commodities and structured solutions to support clients’ objectives and risk management.

In this role, you will work closely with Coverage, Structuring, Trading and Risk partners to provide market insights, thought leadership, and innovative solutions while maintaining high risk and regulatory

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deepen relationships with Hong Kong Local Corporate and China Corporate clients for Financial Markets products.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with decision makers for Financial Markets products to secure priority business for SCB.
  • Respond promptly to client requests for transactions or advisory services and route to the right SCB contacts as needed.
  • Coordinate with product traders to incorporate client feedback into pricing decisions.

Job description

The role is responsible for developing and deepening relationships with Hong Kong Local Corporate and China Corporate clients by delivering strategic financial markets solutions that support their business objectives and risk management needs. The role drives sustainable revenue growth through proactive client engagement, identification of market opportunities, and the delivery of tailored FX, rates, commodities, and structured solutions.

Working closely with Coverage, Structuring and Trading, and Risk partners, this role serves as a trusted advisor to clients, providing market insights, thought leadership, and innovative solutions that help clients navigate evolving market conditions. The role is also accountable for maintaining strong risk, conduct, and regulatory standards while enhancing client satisfaction, increasing product penetration, and strengthening the bank's market position.

Key Responsibilities
Business
  • Develop a thorough understanding of each allocated customer’s business, and understanding of their potential needs for Financial Markets products, through regular liaison with SCB’s principal Relationship Manager (RM) for each customer (e.g. Corporate, Global Account Manager (GAM)), as well as through direct contract with the customer.
  • Establish and maintain a constructive relationship with the decision maker(s) for Financial Markets products for each allocated customer, through regular calling, visits, entertainment, etc., with the objective that the customers always place SCB on their priority
  • Respond speedily and positively to all requests from customers for a specific transaction, or for more general advice, or introduction to a more appropriate contact within SCB, irrespective of the request is from the specially allocated group of customers or not.
  • Liaise with product traders to analyse the acceptance ratio for quotations provided to each customer, alongside feedback from the customer concerning competing quotations accepted in preference to SCB’s, in order that the traders may factor this information into their pricing decisions.
Processes
  • Liaise with Operations concerning customer feedback received on service delivery quality, in order to seek improvements in service delivery where viewed as necessary from the customer’s perspective.
  • Liaise with RMs and SCB product specialists to explore client’s needs, address their concerns and to deliver them suitable services and products, in order to gain more market shares for SCB.
  • Monitor the utilisation of each customer’s trading limits with SCB, obtain specific approval for any excess likely to arise as a result of a particular transaction, and alert respective coverage/GAM if it appears that a higher limit would lead to additional profitable business in Treasury products.
Risk Management
  • Managing risk and compliance as part of the role. Take personal responsibility for understanding the risk and compliance requirements of the role.
Governance
  • Embed operational risk management and reporting as an integral part of the business process.
