Job summary

UBS is seeking a senior Digital Asset Onboarding Specialist in Hong Kong to lead complex onboarding for digital assets across exchanges, wallets, and custodians. You will own end-to-end onboarding activities with rigorous documentation and risk assessments.

You will advise client advisors and control partners on requirements, perform AML/KYC reviews including enhanced due diligence, and interpret blockchain analytics to communicate risk in clear narratives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in wealth management or financial crime compliance.
• Deep knowledge of AML/KYC, CDD/EDD and risk-based onboarding for complex structures.
• Practical understanding of digital asset risks including exchange wallet exposure.
• Experience using blockchain analytics tools (Elliptic, Chainalysis) to produce risk narratives.
• Ability to coordinate across Compliance, Operations and controls to resolve onboarding issues.
• Fluent English and Chinese preferred.

• Act as a senior Digital Asset Onboarding Specialist and subject matter expert for complex onboarding cases involving digital assets, crypto exchanges, virtual asset service providers, custodians and other digital asset‑related counterparties
• Own and coordinate end‑to‑end onboarding activities, ensuring client information, supporting documentation, risk assessments and approvals are completed accurately, consistently and within agreed turnaround times
• Advise client advisors, market teams and business partners on onboarding requirements, expected evidence, risk considerations and escalation paths for digital asset‑related cases
• Conduct risk‑based AML/KYC and client due diligence reviews, including enhanced due diligence where required, with particular focus on source of wealth/source of funds, wallet exposure and digital asset‑specific red flags
• Review and interpret blockchain analytics outputs using tools such as Elliptic, Chainalysis or similar market tools, and translate findings into clear risk narratives for business, compliance and approval forums
• Coordinate with Financial Crime Prevention / Compliance, Operations and other control functions to resolve onboarding issues, obtain sign‑offs and ensure decisions are properly documented
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and improve digital asset onboarding processes, controls, templates and stakeholder experience while maintaining strong risk discipline

The team

You’ll be working in Process and Quality Specialist team in Hong Kong within the Wealth Management (WM), working closely with client advisors, market teams, business partners and control functions. The team supports client onboarding in line with regulatory requirements, UBS group policies and applicable AML/KYC standards, with this role focusing specifically on onboarding cases involving digital asset exposure.

You will be at the center of digital asset‑related onboarding execution, helping the business progress opportunities in a timely and controlled manner. The role requires strong partnership with the business, Compliance and Operations to ensure onboarding decisions are risk‑based, well evidenced and properly documented.

Your Skills And Experience

You have:

• 8+ years of relevant experience in wealth management, financial crime compliance, client due diligence or a related control function, with exposure to digital assets, virtual asset service providers or crypto exchanges
• Strong knowledge of AML/KYC, CDD/EDD and risk‑based onboarding requirements for complex individual and legal entity structures
• Practical understanding of digital asset risks, including exchange and wallet exposure, blockchain transaction flows, source of funds/source of wealth considerations, decentralized services and other emerging typologies
• Hands‑on experience using blockchain analytics such as Elliptic, Chainalysis, or similar market solutions, with the ability to interpret results and produce clear risk narratives
• Ability to manage complex onboarding cases end to end, coordinate multiple stakeholders, elevate issues appropriately and drive timely resolution without compromising control standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex digital asset and AML concepts clearly to senior stakeholders, client advisors and control partners
• High attention to detail, strong organization skills and the ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is preferred.
