Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Data Analyst in Hong Kong to extract, validate, and consolidate high-volume insurance data from AS400 and internal systems for EB operations. You will deliver daily operational reports and monthly dashboards covering claims, loss ratios, and underwriting metrics.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of data analysis or reporting experience in insurance or financial services
• Experience with Life operations preferred
• Proficiency with AS400 data extraction
• Strong Excel (Pivot Tables, lookups, formulas) and SQL
• Power BI or Tableau for visual insights
• Knowledge of Python, SAS, or R is a plus

Job description

• Data Extraction & Pipeline Maintenance: Extract, manipulate, and validate high-volume insurance and claims data from core legacy environments (AS400) and internal databases to support EB operations.
• Recurring & Ad-Hoc Reporting: Deliver accurate daily operational reports and monthly executive dashboards covering group medical claims, loss ratio evaluations, premium tracking, renewal listings, and underwriting utilization metrics.
• Process Automation & Optimization: Develop and refine queries, macros, and automated data workflows (Excel VBA, SQL, or Python) to streamline recurring reporting cycles and reduce turnaround times.
• Data Quality & Governance: Perform rigorous data reconciliations, maintain system audit logs, and enforce strict PII data protection and compliance standards.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with EB Operations, Underwriting, and Finance teams to elicit reporting requirements and deliver clear visual insights via Power BI and Excel.

Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of data analysis or reporting experience within the insurance or financial services sector; prior exposure to Life operations is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on proficiency in navigating and extracting data from AS400 is essential. Strong command of Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas; VBA is an advantage), SQL, and Power BI / Tableau. Familiarity with Python, SAS, or R is a plus.
• Analytical Mindset: High attention to detail with strong numerical sensitivity and data reconciliation abilities.
• Languages: Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese).
• Availability: Immediate or short notice preferred.
