Job description

About Resolve

Founded in 2017, Resolve Foundation is an award-winning Section 88 charity dedicated to empowering changemakers. Our vision is to create a Hong Kong where everyone belongs and upholds inclusion. Despite being a global city, 1 in 8 people in Hong Kong report experiencing discrimination (EOC, 2021). We believe we all can be empowered to actively change this, in big and small ways.

Our mission

is to amplify marginalized voices, empower diverse changemakers and build intersectional communities to elevate our collective social impact. Our values stand for Resolve: Rights, Equality, Solidarity, Organization, Leadership, Voice and Empowerment. Our organizational culture emphasizes: diversity, learning, responsibility, collaboration and gratitude. Learn more: resolvehk.org.

About the Role

Are you a visionary communications leader passionate about driving social inclusion, fostering allyship and amplifying marginalized voices in Hong Kong? As Resolve approaches its 10th anniversary, we are expanding our senior leadership team to steer our 2025–2027 Strategy, with a major mandate to increase our bilingual public education and outreach.

Key Job Duties
Brand Strategy & Governance:

Formulate strategic communication plans aligned with our 2025–2027 Strategy. Establish high-level content governance, brand integrity and compliance among team members, and reputational risk management across all channels.

Inclusive Style Guide:

Maintain a living Resolve style guide and bilingual inclusion glossary to establish best-practice terminology across the social impact sector, ensuring Resolve’s language both is influenced by and influences changing societal understandings of inclusion.

Campaign & Digital Strategy:

Oversee high-impact digital campaigns, community-driven storytelling, and major event publicity (such as annual fundraising campaigns and our upcoming 10-year anniversary milestone). Drive strategy to achieve digital KPIs.

Media & Public Relations:

Scout strategic PR opportunities, deepen relationships with local journalists, influencers, and media outlets, KOLs and digital influencers and secure high-visibility English and Chinese-language media coverage.

Executive Representation:

Serve as a key senior ambassador for Resolve in high-level external engagements, public speaking opportunities, conferences, and policy or forums, helping to advance Resolve’s representation in wider circles.

Senior Management Team (SMT):

Work with other members on resource mobilization, budgeting, annual work planning, risk management, reporting to the board, funders, monitoring and learning and impact assessment to ensure smooth and sustainable operations.

Team Coaching & Mentorship:

Line-manage junior staff, volunteers and interns, fostering a positive, empowering and high-performing team culture, and encouraging cross-department collaboration and organizational team-building.

Vendor & Agency Management:

Oversee external vendors, PR agencies, creative producers, and translators to ensure quality delivery and measurable ROI. Ensure procurement follows Resolve’s internal procurement and financial procedures.

Senior Experience:

Minimum 7 years of experience in strategic communications, media and public relations, narrative change, or marketing campaigns that drive measurable engagement and social impact, and at least 2 years of previous people management experience.

Storytelling ability:

Compelling communication skills, ability to identify potential stories and understanding of how to position them for different audiences. Understanding of participatory approaches is a definite advantage.

Bilingual Fluency & Cultural Mastery:

Native/fluent proficiency in written and spoken Traditional Chinese/Cantonese and English. Proven ability to provide final editorial sign-off on Chinese materials, ensuring cultural nuance, precise local terminology and messaging accuracy.

Tech saviness:

Hands-on proficiency with several platforms: such as CRM systems (e.g., Odoo), WordPress, email marketing platforms, AI, digital analytics, and design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), Google Work Suite, commitment to stay on top of rapid tech developments.

Right to Work:

Must have permission to work in Hong Kong and a deep understanding of the local media, cultural, and social sector landscapes, understanding of how diversity, equity and inclusion plays out in the local context.

Location

Resolve’s main office is in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. Resolve allows for flexible working currently at a ratio of 40 (remote) /60 (in office).

Salary & Benefits

The expected salary for this role is HKD 45,000 - 55,000 depending on experience. Note that Resolve has an established salary structure that is regularly reviewed against the market and set against a Competency Framework. Other benefits include flexible working and considerations for a balanced work-life relationship, health and dental insurance, opportunities for training and development, a culture of wellbeing and team-building, and above-market levels of annual leave. Resolve will provide you with a work phone and laptop. We are also based out of a larger social impact coworking space that has perks and organizes several activities and events.
