Job summary

Protalent Advisors is seeking a leadership-level risk executive to shape the bank's risk strategy and resilience in Hong Kong. You will work with senior management and the Board on critical risk decisions and ensure HKMA compliance.

The role oversees credit, operational, market and liquidity risk, develops risk policies, leads risk governance, and mentors Risk, Credit and Credit Control teams to foster a strong risk culture.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in banking/finance with 8+ years in senior risk/credit management.
• Experience with HKMA regulatory guidelines.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Fluency in English and Chinese; Putonghua advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the bank’s credit, operational, market, and liquidity risk management, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement risk policies, frameworks, and methodologies, including stress testing and CAR monitoring.
• Lead risk governance, reporting to the Board/senior management, and escalate material risks or breaches.
• Approve new products/services, assessing risks and ensuring compliance with approval processes.
• Monitor ALM, liquidity ratios, and interest rate risk limits.
• Supervise Risk, Credit, and Credit Control teams, fostering a robust risk culture.

Requirements

Education: Degree in Business/Finance (MBA preferred).

Experience: 15+ years in banking/finance, including 8+ years in senior risk/credit management.

Skills: Expertise in risk frameworks, regulatory guidelines (e.g., HKMA), and lending practices. Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills. Fluency in English and Chinese (Putonghua advantageous).
