Job summary

IO TECH SOLUTIONS LIMITED in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable services powering our digital products. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver robust microservices and REST APIs.

You will apply lean and agile practices, participate in Scrum ceremonies, and ensure strong test coverage with unit and integration tests. Proficiency in Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Docker and Kubernetes is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 5+ years building microservices and REST-based systems.
• Experience in product-oriented, Agile/DevOps environments.
• Strong Java 17+ and Spring Boot/Spring Cloud expertise.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and MySQL on cloud.
• Ability to write unit tests and apply TDD.

Position Summary

As a Backend Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable software. You'll apply lean and agile principles to solve challenging problems, continuously improve our platforms, and contribute to successful delivery of our digital products. You'll play a key role in developing backend services that power new experiences and technologies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to invent, design, implement, and deploy new backend systems and enhancements to existing services.
• Engineer and maintain microservices and backend APIs to support new product functionality.
• Deliver backend features that enable new experiences and integrations.
• Maintain production systems, investigate incidents, and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, execution, and review.
• Ensure strong test coverage through unit and integration testing.
• Participate in peer design discussions and code reviews.
• Contribute to architecture planning and technical design sessions.
• Proactively collaborate with teammates, including distributed/remote stakeholders, and communicate effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent work experience and training).
• Minimum of 5 years experience building microservices and web-based systems (REST).
• Experience in a product-oriented, team-based environment using modern delivery practices (e.g., UX/product thinking, lean, Agile, DevOps, cloud).
• Proficiency in Java 17+ (preferred JDK25).
• Proficiency with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
• Experience with Amazon RDS (MySQL).
• Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write unit tests and follow TDD practices.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, OOP, and software development methodologies.
