Job summary

Charterhouse Hong Kong is seeking a replacement hire for a regulatory compliance role within the Operations Division of a reputable banking institution.

You will oversee sanctions screening, watchlist management, and liaison with Compliance on potential sanctions matches, while ensuring DPS, PDPO, CoBP, FATCA, CRS compliance. You will also coordinate audits and provide guidance to junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in finance/banking or related field.
• 6+ years of banking operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of sanctions governance, regulatory compliance and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sanctions screening and list management across banking operations, including watchlist maintenance and alert investigation.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with DPS, PDPO, CoBP, FATCA, CRS and other regulations.
• Review auditor confirmations, certificates of balance and bank reference letters; handle law enforcement enquiries.
• Assess impact of new regulatory developments on procedures; coordinate audits and regulatory examinations.
• Act as project coordinator for operations-related initiatives and process improvements.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and collaborate with Compliance, Risk and Business units.

Our client, a reputable banking institution, is seeking a replacement hire arising from an internal transfer and offers the opportunity to play a key role in regulatory compliance, sanctions governance, operational control, and project coordination within the Operations Division.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee sanction screening and list management activities across banking operations, including watchlist maintenance, alert investigation, escalation, and liaison with Compliance on potential sanctions matches.
• Monitor and ensure operational compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines, including Deposit Protection Scheme (DPS) requirements, Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO), Code of Banking Practice (CoBP), FATCA, CRS, and other applicable regulations.
• Review and supervise the issuance of auditor confirmations, certificates of balance, bank reference letters, law enforcement enquiries, document management, and other account administration activities.
• Conduct impact assessments on new regulatory developments and ensure operational procedures remain compliant with evolving requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews relating to banking operations.
• Support departmental governance initiatives, operational control reviews, policy updates, and risk management activities.
• Act as project coordinator for operations-related initiatives, system enhancements, process improvement projects, and new product implementations.
• Provide guidance and oversight to junior team members while working closely with stakeholders across Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Business units.

Requirements

• Degree holder with min 6 years of banking operations experience, preferably covering multiple operational disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of banking operations, operational controls, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
• Hands-on experience in:

  • Watchlist Management
  • Investigation of screening alerts and potential sanctions hits
  • Regulatory and law enforcement enquiries
